MULTIFUNCTIONAL VALVE. Sea To Summit has developed its own multi-function valve to make inflation, deflation and pressure adjustment faster and easier. The low-profile, one-piece unit easily attaches to the Airstream Pumpsack included with each mat.

Stability = better comfort. The reason these mats are so much more comfortable than others on the market is how stable and supportive they feel. The unique structure creates hundreds of interconnected cells called Air Sprung Cells. Just like a pocket sprung mattress you might have at home, this matrix of cells provides unparalleled support. And because these individual air pockets work independently of each other, when you move on the mat, you don't get the rolling sensation common with air mattresses. Our sleeping mats are simply much more stable, resulting in a better night's sleep.

The TPU coating is applied to the inside of the mat through a process unique to the medical and aerospace industries. Extrusion lamination is more durable, consistent and allows Sea To Summit to use its own TPU formula. It is far superior to roll-to-roll lamination, which is used in all other outdoor products right now and can suffer from delamination problems. Sea To Summit has also incorporated an antimicrobial treatment into its TPU formula to prevent mold or fungus growth inside the mattress. Although we have two excellent pump options, Airstream and Jet Stream, the antimicrobial treatment on the inside of the mattress means you can inflate it with your breath, without worry.

We have developed a 30/40D Nylon outer material to achieve the balance between weight and durability. The 40D warp thread (which runs alongside and gives the fabric its frame) provides strength while the 30D weft thread (woven over the warp thread) reduces the overall weight of the fabric and creates a structured weave. On the inside we use a lightweight white extrusion laminated TPU to make the fabric airtight and weldable. On the outside, we apply a thin acrylic coating to reduce sliding surface, increase puncture resistance and facilitate puncture repair with self-adhesive patches if needed.

SINGLE LAYER DESIGN. Larger air pockets are created by using many TPU loops connecting the upper and lower fabric layers with Sea To Summit Air Sprung Cell welding pattern. The TPU loops allow the top and bottom layers to be spaced further apart, creating larger air pockets when inflated and requiring less fabric overall. Perfect for side sleepers, the extra height of this mattress allows the hips to sink deeper into it without touching the ground.
