Rottefella
Rottefella is the world's largest developer and producer of ski bindings for cross-country skiing, telemark skiing and ski touring. With almost 100 years of experience , Rottefella creates products that provide both safety, function and freedom of movement - regardless of whether the goal is competition, mountaineering or playful skiing.
All Rottefellas bindings are designed, developed and manufactured in Norway , with a clear focus on quality and sustainability.
The history of Rottefellas begins in 1927 with the inventor Bror With . The day before a ski race, he had the idea to use steel springs from an old bicycle saddle , which he forged in his fireplace at home. With simple tools, he built a completely new type of ski binding – stronger and more functional than previous solutions.
The day after the race, the binding was noticed by the then Crown Prince Olav . When the Crown Prince asked what kind of bindings they were, Bror With jokingly replied:
“Oh – it’s just a couple of mousetraps I bought at the hardware store.”
The name Rottefella was born.
After the race, Bror With patented both the invention and the name. The following year, the Norwegian military patrol won Olympic gold in St. Moritz , equipped with Rottefella bindings.
Rottefella quickly grew into a global brand, but the core values have remained the same since the beginning:
Hard work
Smart, functional solutions
The freedom to go out into nature and play
These values still permeate everything Rottefella develops.
Rottefella develops bindings for:
Cross-country skiing – stability, power transfer and control
Ski touring – reliability and freedom of movement in varied terrain
