It is what allows you to both broadcast your position and search for others in the event of an avalanche. How an avalanche transceiver works

An avalanche transceiver has two main modes:

🔹 Send mode (SEND)

Worn close to the body and continuously sends out a signal. If you get caught in an avalanche, it allows others to find you.

🔹 Search mode (SEARCH)

Used if someone else in the group is buried.
Modern devices have:

• multiple antennas (usually 3) for high precision

• digital signal processing

• clear arrows and distance indication

• features for marking multiple buried people

This makes the rescue faster and more efficient.
