Pioneer Tech is designed to fit relatively close and stable around the foot. The extra stability comes primarily from the shaft and the reinforcement around the heel and ankle. The fit should be firm, but the forefoot and toes should not be subjected to heavy pressure.
There is no clear evidence that the model is generally small or large in size. Therefore, use the actual length of the foot as a basis. Add about 2–3 mm to your measured measurement before comparing with the table. If you end up between two sizes, you will normally choose the larger one.
Example: If your longest foot measures 267 mm, the comparison measurement will be approximately 270 mm, which corresponds to EU 42.
If you have a wide forefoot, high ankle or use molded soles, you should try the ski boot. Choosing a significantly longer size to get more width can impair heel grip and control over the ski.
It's best to measure your feet in the afternoon or evening, as they are normally slightly larger than in the morning.
A medium-thick ski or merino sock is a good starting point. Avoid double socks or very thick socks that fill the ski boot too much. A tight fit can impair blood circulation and make your feet colder.
If you mainly ski in very cold conditions, you should try the ski boot together with the warmer sock you actually intend to use.
When Alpina Pioneer Tech is properly tested:
Try the boots indoors for 10–15 minutes. Lace them up as you would before skiing and make several ski-like movements. The correct size provides a natural stride while keeping the foot and heel stable when the ski is loaded laterally.
