Rental was the start of Outdoor Buddies and is still a central part of what we do. We are happy to help you choose equipment based on your activity, experience and the time of year.

Ski touring & mountain equipment
Rent touring skis, touring boots and accessories for day trips or longer trips in the mountains. Choose individual parts or a touring ski package and supplement with a mountain sled if necessary.
Summit tour & avalanche equipment
The rental range includes touring skis, boots, packs and accessories, as well as avalanche equipment. We can help you with questions about size, fit, and which parts work together.
Tents, sleeping bags & sleeping pads
Rent equipment for overnight stays outdoors, from tents and shelters to sleeping bags and mats. Overnight packages are also available. Tell us when and where you will be using the equipment and we will help you choose.
Outdoor clothing, ski clothing & boots
Do you need clothes for your ski trip or mountain hike? We rent out shell clothing, ski clothing and clothing packages as well as shoes, boots and ski boots. The range also includes options for children and juniors.
Cross-country skates & snowshoes
Rent touring skates, skating boots and ice safety equipment, separately or as a package. For winter hiking, snowshoes are also available.
Equipment for hiking, running & family trips
Complete your pack with a backpack, hiking or running poles, headlamp or outdoor kitchen. We also have baby carriers for family trips and equipment for certain races.

Rent for what you want to do
Are you trying a new activity, need extra equipment for a trip, or don't have space to store everything at home? Renting makes it possible to use the equipment for the period you need it.
You can supplement what you already own or choose a package. A summer hike, a winter trip and a race place different demands on your pack. Please contact us with your plans and we will help you find a suitable alternative.
How to book your rental equipment
- Select the start and end dates. Specify when you want to pick up the equipment and when you want to return it. For delivery to a dealer, select the day you want to pick up the package and the day you want to return it.
- Select products, packages and sizes. Read what is included and add any accessories. The booking system shows availability and total price for the period you have chosen.
- Choose how you want to receive your equipment. Select pickup in Åre or an available delivery option at checkout. Complete your booking and check the confirmation.
- Pick up, use and return. Check the equipment when you receive it and contact us immediately if anything needs to be arranged. Return as booked and pack everything dry if it is to be shipped.
Rental prices – how the cost is calculated
The first day of rental has a higher starting price. After that, a lower rental rate is added for additional days. The rate can vary with product and rental period, which means that the average price per day is normally lower when you rent for longer.

The exact total price will be shown when you select your dates. The price shown before you select a period is a starting price. Any shipping and delivery costs will be shown in the option you select.

Pick up at our store
Pick up your booking at Outdoor Buddies on Årevägen 75. The entrance is at the back, opposite Åre Crêperie. You pick up from the start day of the booking, during the store's opening hours.
Delivery to agent
We ship rental equipment to agents throughout Sweden. Book well in advance, especially if you are renting skis or other bulky equipment. Follow the booking instructions for returns.

Do you need to pick up early in the morning?
Pick-up from our locker can be arranged from 7:00 AM on the start day of the booking. Book no later than one hour before closing the day before and indicate in the message field that you want to pick up from the locker. You will receive a code via text message.
Rental for groups & companies
Are you planning a conference, company trip or mountain weekend together? Contact us well in advance with the date, number of participants, planned activity and what clothing or equipment you need. We can then review availability, sizes and a plan for your booking.

Frequently asked questions about renting
Can I rent even if I'm not going to Åre?
Yes. Rental equipment can be shipped to agents throughout Sweden. Select delivery options at checkout and check the advance notice required for your booking.
Is everything I need included in one package?
The contents vary between packages. Read the product description and check what is included. Feel free to ask us if you need help completing the equipment for your activity.
Can you help me with size and equipment selection?
Yes. Tell us what you are going to do and when. Please include your height, weight, shoe size and experience when relevant to the equipment. This will make it easier to choose the right one.
Do I need to wash the rental clothes before returning them?
No, we will take care of the laundry. However, clothes and equipment should be dry before you pack them for return. Please follow the instructions included with your booking.
Where can I find rules for changes and cancellations?
