Welcome to Outdoor Buddies – a running store in central Åre for those who run on trails, mountains, gravel or asphalt. Here you will find handpicked running shoes, energy and equipment for everything from the short run around the village to technical mountain passes, ultra races and competitions in the Åre Mountains.
In the store we help you choose equipment based on fit, surface, distance and your own goals. You can try on shoes and running vests, compare different solutions and get help from staff with their own experience of running on the trails and in races around Åre.

The store is centrally located in Åre, about 200 meters from Åre Square and opposite Åre Crêperie. When you get to Årevägen 75, go around to the back of the building – there you will find the entrance to Outdoor Buddies.
If you are coming from Åre station or Åre square, follow Årevägen through the city center towards Åre old church. The address is within easy walking distance of both the station and the square.

The store's entrance is located at the back of the building on Årevägen 75. Follow the signage around the building when you arrive.
There are parking spaces in central Åre and at Kyrklägdan next to Åre's old church.
Many parking lots in the village are chargeable, and the rules may vary between seasons and parking zones. Always check the on-site signage and do not leave your car in the property's private or reserved spaces.
The right trail shoe should work for both your foot and the terrain you run on. In the store you can try selected models from, among others, Altra, VJ, Topo Athletic, NNormal and other brands in our current range. We help you compare:

In our running store you will find energy gels, sports drinks, chews, bars, electrolytes and ready-made energy packs for long runs and competitions. The range includes products from several well-known brands in endurance sports, such as Umara, Science in Sport, Maurten, Enervit, Näak, Precision Fuel & Hydration, Neversecond and Tailwind Nutrition.
Many gels, bars and chews are sold individually. This makes it easy to buy a few different flavors and consistencies and try them out during training before deciding what you want to use during a race. We also help you compare carbohydrate content, caffeine, electrolytes and how much energy is practical to consume per hour.
The range of brands, flavors and portion sizes varies depending on stock levels. Always try new energy products during training – not for the first time on race day.
For longer runs and mountain runs, you often need to be able to carry fluids, energy, reinforcement clothing and safety equipment. With us, you can get help finding a running vest that fits securely and holds what you need without interfering with your running stride.
When the evenings get darker, a good headlamp is essential. We help you choose the brightness, light pattern, battery life and fit depending on whether you're running in the village, in the forest or on a technical trail.

Åre's running poses different challenges depending on the weather, season and which side of the mountain you are on. Dry gravel roads, wet slopes, slippery roots, rocky mountain terrain and long elevation gains can occur during the same session.
Our staff has their own experience of running on the trails and of the races in the area. We are happy to share knowledge about equipment for rounds around Åreskutan, Totthummeln, Ullådalen, Björnen and Fröå as well as for distances during the Mountain Marathon Week. You can get help to think about shoe choice, grip, vest size, mandatory equipment, energy and fluid based on the round or race you are planning.
