A decade dedicated to clinical studies
Over eight years of research at Karolinska Institutet (KI) and the Swedish Institute of Sports Science (GIH) has resulted in successful stabilization of isothiocyanates, enabling the production of a potent performance drink.
The research group behind the isothiocyanate (ITC) research was originally established at Karolinska Institutet. In 2009, Filip Larsen started as a master's student and contributed to Jon and Eddie's groundbreaking research on nitrate. Michaela Sundqvist joined the group as a doctoral student in 2014. After several years of collaboration, Filip moved to the Swedish Institute of Sports Medicine (GIH), where his research has focused on training adaptations and muscle physiology in elite athletes. At GIH, Filip initiated the research on ITC and training adaptations, with the first study published in 2023. Michaela joined his research group as a postdoctoral fellow in 2021 and led the most recent study on the acute effects of ITC ingestion.
ITC for endurance training
Clinical studies show that ITC (isothiocyanates) improve exercise performance through activation of NRF2
Clinical and in vitro studies show significant improvements from using ITC in endurance training
Reduced lactate buildup during intense exercise
Enhanced training signals that create more mitochondria
Accelerated recovery after exercise
