Hestra Gauntlet Sr. 5 Finger is a longer five-finger glove developed for skiing and snowboarding on cold winter days. The upper part is made of durable, wind and waterproof polyamide that protects against the elements, while the polyurethane palm provides a secure grip on the poles. The glove has a removable fleece lining in soft, brushed polyester that is easy to wash and dry. The synthetic filling effectively insulates and wicks away moisture to keep your hands warm and dry. The measurements refer to the hand, not the outer dimensions of the glove. The size chart is based on average hand proportions and should be used as a guide.

How to measure your hand

Hand circumference

Measure around the palm of your hand at its widest point, just below the knuckles. The thumb should not be included in the measurement. Hold the tape measure close to your hand without pulling it too tight.

Hand length

Measure from the crease of your wrist to the tip of your middle finger.

Measure both hands, starting with the larger one. Then compare both the circumference and length with the table.

How is the Hestra Gauntlet Sr. 5 Finger sized?

The Gauntlet Sr. 5 Finger follows Hestra's usual unisex sizes. As an insulated sports glove, it should fit securely without being too tight. A little air between the hand and the material helps the insulation work and provides better warmth.

The model is made of synthetic material that stretches very little. Therefore, choose the right size from the start and do not expect the glove to become noticeably larger after use.

If the measurements show different sizes

It is common for the hand circumference and hand length to correspond to different sizes. Since this is a five-finger glove, each finger must have enough length.

Normally choose the larger size if:

  • the middle finger presses against the tip of the glove
  • the hand is between two unisex sizes
  • the glove tightens over the knuckles
  • the liner compresses when you grip a ski pole
  • you want to use a thin liner glove underneath

If your fingers are short in relation to the palm, you should also check that the larger size does not leave too much space in the fingertips.

This is how the glove should fit

With the liner in place, the glove should:

  • follow the shape of the hand without hard pressure
  • leave a little air in front of the fingertips
  • don't pull between your fingers
  • let you tie your hand without hindrance
  • provide a stable grip on the ski pole
  • hold the wrist in place without tightening
  • let the snow gaiter close over the jacket sleeve

Your fingers should not be pressed tightly against the tips when you grip a pole. A glove that is too short can cause cold fingertips and strain the seams.

If you use an extra liner

Measure and try on the glove together with the thin liner glove to be used. An extra liner must not make the combination so tight that finger mobility or blood circulation is impaired.

Don't automatically go up a size to use a thick liner. Too much void can result in poorer grip and control.

Size of replacement food

The Gauntlet Sr. 5 Finger has a removable fleece lining. If the lining needs to be replaced, you would normally choose the same Hestra size as the outer glove.

A liner of the wrong size can fold, shift or become compressed inside the glove.

Important to know

The outer fabric is wind and water repellent, but the glove lacks a fully waterproof membrane. The Gauntlet Sr. 5 Finger protects against snow and light moisture, but is not intended as a fully waterproof glove in prolonged wet conditions.
