Long-distance comfort with control and grip

The OMM Ultra Shoe is designed for runners who go further – where lasting comfort, protection and durability are essential. With increased cushioning , a robust upper and reliable grip, this is a shoe built to perform hour after hour on varied terrain .

It is optimized for long distances where the shoe should continue to feel stable, comfortable and predictable even when fatigue sets in.

Cushioning for long distances

The Ultra Shoe differs from the OMM Trail and Fell models in its more cushioned construction . With a stack height of 30mm and a drop of 8mm, it offers a protective platform that absorbs repeated impacts and supports an efficient, forward-moving stride over time.

The lightweight EVA midsole is carefully tuned to provide both comfort and energy return – soft enough to reduce impact, but responsive enough to maintain the running feel.

Comfortable upper for spacer

The upper is specifically designed for long-distance comfort . The two-layer construction combines a soft inner layer that reduces irritation with a more durable outer layer that provides structure and durability.

The construction allows for natural foot movement and some swelling during long sessions, without compromising stability. Together with the X-Lace system, it creates a smooth and secure fit without pressure points or excessive tightening.

Reliable grip over mixed terrain

Underfoot, a Vibram LiteBase outsole with MegaGrip rubber and Traction Lugs is designed for long-lasting grip in both wet and dry conditions.

The outsole balances durability and grip, providing consistent traction on gravel, trails, rocks and mixed terrain – without feeling clunky during longer runs.

Key technologies

CUSHIONED PLATFORM

The increased stack height and forgiving midsole absorb shock and reduce fatigue, making the shoe suitable for long distances where the load builds up over time.

ENERGY‑RETURN EVA MIDSOLE

The EVA midsole provides both cushioning and responsiveness, helping to maintain running efficiency even late in the workout.

TWO-LAYER COMFORT UPPER

Two layers work together to reduce friction against the foot while the upper maintains structure and resistance to wear.

X-LACE SYSTEM

Distributes pressure evenly across the foot and creates stability without local pressure points – especially important on long runs.

VIBRAM MEGAGRIP / LITEBASE / TRACTION LUG

Providing reliable traction, low weight and durability, the lug design maximizes ground contact and control without disrupting your stride on firmer surfaces.

DURABILITY FOCUS

Materials and construction are chosen to withstand repeated long sessions and high total distance .

Suitable for

Ultra running, long-distance trail running, mountain and trail running – for runners who prioritize comfort, reliability and stability when the sessions get really long .

The OMM Ultra Shoe is a unisex running shoe designed for long runs, ultras and long hours on varied terrain. The model is listed in UK sizes and is available in Regular and Regular+ width options.

Measure both feet and use the longest one. For ultra running, it is especially important that the shoe has enough room as the foot swells during long runs.

Foot length is OMM recommended foot measurements, not the inside measurements of the shoe.

Regular or Regular+?

Regular and Regular+ have the same length and basic foot shape. Regular+ provides more space over the forefoot without making the shoe longer.

Regular is suitable for those who have a normal to narrow forefoot and want a close and secure fit.

Regular+ has the same length but about 1mm extra width and 3.5mm more circumference across the forefoot. This provides more volume and room for the toes, which can be especially valuable when feet swell during long runs.

If the length feels right but the shoe presses on the forefoot, you should choose Regular+ in the same size instead of automatically going up in length.

How is the OMM Ultra Shoe sized?

The model is generally perceived as normal in length. Start with your usual UK size, but always compare with foot length as EU conversions vary between shoe brands.

Choose the larger size if:

  • the foot length falls between two sizes
  • the longest toe is near the front edge of the shoe
  • you use thicker running socks
  • you plan long sessions where your feet swell
  • you feel your foot sliding forward and your toes hitting the front of the shoe on downhill slopes

Don't choose a larger size just to get more width. If the length is already right, Regular+ is a better option.

How to measure your foot

  1. Place a piece of paper on the floor with one edge against a straight wall.
  2. Put on the socks you intend to use with the shoes.
  3. Stand on the paper with your heel lightly against the wall and full weight on your foot.
  4. Mark in front of the longest toe.
  5. Measure from the edge of the paper to the mark.
  6. Repeat with the other foot and use the longest measurement.

To measure the width, mark the two widest points of the forefoot and measure the distance straight between them.

It's best to measure later in the day or after a walk, when your feet are slightly larger.

Check the fit

The correct size should:

  • give some space in front of the longest toe
  • allow the toes to move without pressure from the sides
  • allow for normal swelling during long sessions
  • keep the midfoot secure without hard pressure points
  • keep the heel stable without any obvious looseness
  • prevent the foot from sliding forward on downhill slopes
  • feel comfortable with the socks you use when running

The X-Lace system should keep the foot stable without having to be tightened too much. If the heel moves but the length feels correct, locking the heel with the laces can improve the fit.

If you fall between two sizes, we normally recommend the larger size for long runs and ultra running.
