The Topo Athletic Ultraventure 5 Ws in Maroon/Tan is a well-cushioned women's trail shoe, designed for running and hiking on trails, gravel and roads. It combines soft cushioning with a spacious toe box and a wraparound fit around the midfoot and heel.

This model is perfect for those who prioritize comfort on longer rides and want to be able to switch between different surfaces. With breathable mesh, Vibram® XS Trek outsole and 5mm drop, the shoe works especially well on light to moderately technical terrain.

ZipFoam™ for long sessions

The ZipFoam™ midsole provides soft and responsive cushioning. The sole height of 35 mm under the heel and 30 mm under the forefoot provides a 5 mm drop.

The fifth generation features a reworked midsole that retains the generously cushioned feel of the Ultraventure series. The OrthoLite® Performance sockliner adds additional comfort closest to the foot.

Vibram® XS Trek for varied surfaces

The outsole's rubber compound and pattern are adapted to the combination of trail, gravel and road, making the shoe useful when the run starts on asphalt and continues onto forest paths.

The Ultraventure 5 has a neutral construction without a stone protection plate and is primarily intended for lighter to moderately technical terrain.

Spacious toe box and breathable mesh

The anatomical toe box gives your toes room to spread out, while the fit around the midfoot and heel keeps your foot firmly in the shoe.

The tightly woven mesh upper features padding around the heel and tongue. An updated gaiter attachment allows for the use of compatible gaiters to reduce the amount of gravel and debris that gets in. Gaiters sold separately.

Fit and size

The Ultraventure 5 Ws has a standard fit with Topo's spacious toe box. Use the size guide and try on the socks you wear when running or hiking. If you are between sizes, the larger size is recommended.

Care instructions

Brush off loose dirt and clean the shoes gently by hand. Allow them to air dry at room temperature, away from radiators and other heat sources. Always follow the product's care instructions.

The Topo Athletic Ultraventure 5 Ws is a cushioned women's trail shoe with a roomy toe box and a more enveloping fit around the midfoot and heel. The toes should be able to move while the foot is held firmly in place.

The model uses US women's sizes , so make sure you compare with the women's size chart when choosing your size.

The CM column reflects Topos' stated centimeter measurements. Use the table as a size reference and also check toe space, width and heel grip when trying on the shoes.

Which size should you choose?

Topo Athletic Sweden generally recommends a half US size larger than you usually wear , as the brand's shoes can feel a bit small. If you are between two sizes, they recommend the larger size.

If you already have a pair of Topo women's shoes that fit well, you can start by trying on the same US size. However, check the fit in the Ultraventure 5, as the upper and padding may feel different between models.

How to measure your foot

1. Place a piece of paper on the floor against a wall.
2. Put on the socks you intend to use with the shoes.
3. Stand on the paper with your heel against the wall and put weight on your foot.
4. Mark in front of the longest toe.
5. Measure from the wall to the mark.
6. Repeat with the other foot, starting from the longest measurement.

Feel free to measure later in the day and try the shoes on with the same socks.

How should the Ultraventure 5 Ws fit?

The spacious toe box is part of the Topo's fit. Judge the size based on the entire foot:

• The toes should be able to move and spread out.
• There should be space in front of the longest toe.
• Your heel should be stable when you walk and run.
• The midfoot should be held in place without tight lacing.
• Your toes should not hit the front edge when you go downhill.
• The upper should not press on the toe joints.

Standard or Wide?

The standard width Ultraventure 5 Ws already have a spacious toe box. The wide version provides additional space and may be worth trying if the standard model feels cramped despite the length being right.

Choose width and length together. A longer shoe still needs to provide a secure grip around the heel and midfoot.
