MULTIFUNCTIONAL VALVE

Sea To Summit developed its own multi-function valve to make inflation, deflation and pressure adjustment faster and easier. The low-profile, one-piece unit easily attaches to the Airstream Pumpsack included with each mat. Stability = better comfort. The reason these pads are so much more comfortable than others on the market is how stable and supportive they feel. The unique pattern creates hundreds of interconnected chambers called Air Sprung Cells. Just like a pocket sprung mattress you might have at home, this matrix of cells provides exceptional support. And because these individual air pockets work independently, when you move on the mat, you don't get the rolling sensation common with baffled underlays. Our sleeping mats are simply much more stable, resulting in a better night's sleep. The TPU coating is applied to the inside of the underlay through a process unique to the medical and aerospace industries. Extrusion lamination is more durable, consistent and allows Sea To Summit to use its own TPU formula. It is far superior to roll-to-roll lamination, which is used in all other outdoor products right now and can suffer from delamination problems. Sea To Summit has also incorporated an antimicrobial treatment into its TPU formula to prevent mold or fungus growth inside the mattress. Although we have two excellent pump options, Airstream and Jet Stream, the anti-microbial treatment on the inside of the base means you can inflate with your own breath, without worry. We developed 30/40D Nylon outer fabric to achieve the balance between weight and durability. The 40D warp (which runs lengthwise and gives the fabric strength) provides strength while the 30D weft (woven over the warp) reduces the overall fabric weight and creates a structured weave. On the inside, we use a lightweight white extruded TPU to make the fabric airtight and weldable. On the outside we apply a thin acrylic coating to reduce gloss, increase puncture resistance and assist with puncture repair with self-adhesive patches if needed.

THERMOLITE insulation, designed for optimal performance, is made from specially engineered fibers to achieve a high CLO value with low weight. THERMOLITE HL-1 high loft insulation is a fiber fill constructed with unique 3D shrinking of hollow core and solid fibers, providing excellent lightweight warmth with superior durability. THERMOLITE insulation lifts up in Air Sprung Cells to prevent convective heat loss from the warm body to the cold ground.

SIMPLE LAYER DESIGN

Larger air pockets are created by using many TPU loops connecting the upper and lower fabric layers with Sea To Summit Air Sprung Cell welding pattern. The TPU loops allow top and bottom layers to be spaced further apart and create larger air pockets when inflated which requires less fabric overall. Perfect for side sleepers, the extra height of this base allows the hips to sink deeper without touching the ground.
