Ortovox AVABAG LiTRIC Zero 27
See our entire range from Ortovox here!
The Ortovox AVABAG LiTRIC Zero 27 is a minimalist electronic avalanche backpack developed for weight-conscious top tourers. With a 27 liter pack volume and a total weight of approximately 1,970 grams including airbag system, it combines low weight with space for touring and avalanche equipment.
The electronic LiTRIC system uses supercapacitors instead of a gas cartridge. The system charges via USB-C and provides at least two releases per full charge. The cartridge-free design simplifies practice releases and makes the backpack easier to travel with.
The LiTRIC system can be fully charged in approximately 25 minutes via USB-C. When the system is activated, it has an operating time of approximately 60 hours, making it suitable for both day trips and multi-day adventures. The specified temperature range is −30 to +45 °C.
The system status is shown with LED indication and the height-adjustable trigger handle can be adapted to the user. Since no disposable cartridge is required, you can carry out test triggers and practice handling without having to buy a new cartridge after each activation.
The backpack is stripped down to keep weight down but has the essential features for ski mountaineering. The spacious main compartment is accessed via a zippered opening and has attachment points for avalanche equipment. The bright interior makes it easier to find equipment in low light.
Skis can be attached diagonally or with the D-Skifix system. The backpack also has ice axe and pole mounts, a removable helmet net, compression straps and preparation for a hydration system.
Unlike the AVABAG LiTRIC Tour and Freeride, the Zero model does not have a replaceable Zip-On bag. The pack and LiTRIC base form a solid, weight-optimized unit.

Check the system status and always follow the Ortovox operating instructions before each trip. After longer storage, for example over the summer, the system should be charged for 24 hours before use, even if the LED indicator shows full charge earlier. For long-term storage, the system should first be fully charged and then recharged after twelve months at the latest.
Ortovox recommends at least one test release and function check per year. After use in an avalanche or if damage is discovered, the system should be checked by Ortovox.
When traveling by air, the system should be switched off and secured against accidental activation. Ortovox recommends that the backpack be transported as hand luggage. Always check current regulations with the airline and at the destination before departure.
An avalanche airbag can help reduce the risk of being buried, but it does not prevent avalanches and does not guarantee survival. The backpack is never a substitute for an avalanche transmitter, probe, shovel, training or a well-thought-out route choice.
Ortovox has implemented a voluntary recall of AVABAG LiTRIC models delivered during the winter of 2022/2023. Revised models from winter 2023/2024 and later are not affected. Always check the manufacturing version when purchasing an older or used system.
