Lifesystems Heatshield Bag is a lightweight, reusable emergency bivouac bag that provides full-body protection in the event of accidents, unexpected stops, and rapidly deteriorating weather. The heat-reflecting material reflects and retains over 90 percent of the body's radiated heat while the bag reduces chilling caused by wind and moisture.

Weighing only 110 grams and with a very compact packing size, the Heatshield Bag is a useful safety accessory for running, hiking, skiing, cycling, paddling and other activities where low weight is important.

Heat-reflective protection for the whole body

The closed sack construction provides better containment than an open rescue blanket and helps to retain an insulating layer of air around the body. The size of 210 × 90 cm provides space for an adult and allows for protection of most of the body from the elements.

The Heatshield Bag does not create heat on its own, but limits body heat loss. For best effect, the person should be insulated from cold ground and further protected with dry clothing and other available equipment.

Wind and waterproof material

The emergency bivouac bag is made of strong, metallized low-density polyethylene with taped seams. The material is both windproof and waterproof, as well as radar reflective, making the product suitable as safety equipment in exposed environments.

After use, the bag can be dried, checked and packed back in the included storage bag, provided that the material and seams have not been damaged.

Use in emergency situations

Place the person inside the bag and protect the head without covering the face or airways. Limit the opening to retain heat, but ensure adequate ventilation. If possible, insulate from the ground with, for example, a sleeping pad, a backpack or dry clothing.

The Heatshield Bag is intended as emergency equipment and does not replace a sleeping bag, planned weather protection or appropriate clothing. In case of suspected hypothermia, serious injury or other emergency situation, 112 should be contacted. Keep the product away from fire, embers and other strong heat sources.
