Exped SIM 2.5 M is a self-inflating sleeping pad for hiking, camping and outdoor activities during spring, summer and autumn. The combination of insulating foam, compact packing dimensions and a weight of approximately 690 grams makes it a practical option for those who want easy handling and a stable sleeping surface.
Size M measures 183 x 50 centimeters and is 2.5 centimeters thick. The rectangular shape provides even support from head to toe, while the internal foam helps the mattress expand when the valves are opened.
When the sleeping pad is rolled out and the valves are opened, the foam automatically draws air in. After a while, you only need to take a few breaths to achieve the desired firmness.
The practical flat valves make it easy to fill, adjust and deflate the mattress. When packing, the valves open and the air is pressed out at the same time as the base is rolled up.
The first time you use the sleeping pad, the foam may need more time to fully expand. It is best to leave it unrolled with the valves open for a while before your first ride.
Exped SIM 2.5 M has an ASTM-tested R-value of 3.3 and is designed for use during spring, summer and fall. The foam core slows heat loss to the ground and provides better insulation than an uninsulated air underlay.
EXPED indicates a lower temperature of around −5 °C. The temperature specification is a guide and not a guaranteed comfort temperature. How warm you sleep is also affected by your sleeping bag, clothing, ground conditions, weather and individual cold tolerance.
For regular winter use or overnight stays on snow, a sleeping pad with a higher R-value should be chosen.
The 2.5 cm thick foam core creates a smooth and stable sleeping surface. Unlike a traditional air mattress, the mattress is filled with foam on the inside, which provides support over the entire surface and reduces the feeling of lying on separate air channels.
The relatively low profile provides a firmer sleeping experience and is suitable for people who prefer a stable base. The firmness can be easily adjusted by releasing a small amount of air when you lie on the mattress.
The SIM 2.5 M weighs approximately 690 grams and has a pack size of approximately 26 × 16 centimeters. This makes the model suitable for hiking and other trips where the pack volume needs to be kept down, but where the comfort of a self-inflating sleeping pad is prioritized.
The rectangular shape and length of 183 centimeters provide space for one person. The width is 50 centimeters both at the shoulders and feet.
The outer material is made of recycled 75D polyester with a soft, brushed surface and embossed honeycomb structure. The construction provides a pleasant contact surface and helps the sleeping bag lie more stable on the mattress.
The polyester fabric is laminated with an airtight TPU polyether film. Both the outer fabric and the PU foam are tested or certified according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.

Unroll the mattress and open the valves. Allow the foam core to expand and then add air until the mattress is at the desired firmness. Avoid filling it unnecessarily hard.
Clear the tent site of sharp rocks, branches and other objects. It is advisable to use a protective tent floor to reduce the risk of punctures and wear.
Clean the surface with lukewarm water, a mild detergent and a soft cloth or sponge. The vents should be completely closed during cleaning. Do not use bleach, a washing machine or a dryer.
Allow the mattress to air dry completely. Store it preferably unrolled with the vents open in a dry, cool place. Keep the mattress pad and the glue in the repair kit away from open flames and strong heat sources.
