Exped Dura 3R LW is a spacious, insulated and durable sleeping pad for hiking, paddling, camping and longer trips during spring, summer and autumn. LW stands for Long Wide and means a generous sleeping surface of 197 × 65 centimeters – a good choice for taller people or those who want more space and comfort.

The sleeping pad combines seven centimeters of thickness with recycled Texpedloft insulation and an ASTM-tested R-value of 3.2. The robust construction prioritizes durability and sleeping comfort while keeping the pack size at approximately 27 × 14.5 centimeters.

R-value 3.2 for three seasons

The R-value describes how effectively the sleeping pad slows down heat loss to the ground. Exped Dura 3R LW has an R-value of 3.2 according to ASTM standards and is developed for use during spring, summer and autumn.

The base is therefore well suited for regular mountain hikes, canoeing trips, camping and longer expeditions when the temperature does not require a pure winter base. In colder conditions, the R-value always needs to be assessed together with the sleeping bag, clothing, ground temperature and individual cold tolerance.

Synmat Technology reduces heat loss

The Dura 3R uses EXPED's Synmat Technology with recycled Texpedloft microfiber. The insulation is bonded to the top and bottom of the air channels, limiting internal air circulation that could otherwise transport body heat away.

The construction provides more even insulation across the sleeping surface and helps prevent cold spots. The synthetic insulation is also a practical option during trips where equipment may be exposed to moisture and changing weather.

Long Wide for more sleeping space

The LW version is 197 centimeters long and 65 centimeters wide. It is suitable for taller users but is also a comfortable option for those who move a lot during the night or simply appreciate a wider lying surface.

The rectangular shape takes advantage of the width from head to foot, so the sleeping pad works well with roomier sleeping bags and provides more room for arms and legs than a narrower or mummy-shaped model.

Seven centimeters of comfort

The longitudinal air chambers create a seven-centimeter thick layer between the body and the ground. This provides good relief for the hips and shoulders and makes it easier to find a comfortable sleeping position even on uneven camping pitches.

EXPED's Cradle Comfort™ construction means the outer air chambers are slightly higher. The side channels provide extra support and help keep the body centered on the sleeping pad throughout the night.

The firmness can be adjusted by releasing a small amount of air when you lie on the mattress.

Durable recycled material

The Dura series is designed for tours where a durable outer fabric is important. The material consists of recycled 75D/170D polyester with an airtight TPU film lamination.

The specified textile materials are bluesign® approved and the construction is DWR-free. EXPED also states that since 2025 their textile products will be manufactured without intentionally added PFAS.

Two valves and included pump bag

The sleeping pad has two separate flat valves that simplify both inflation, fine-tuning and deflation. When the deflation valve is opened, the air can be quickly squeezed out before packing.

The included Schnozzel Pumpbag UL is used to fill the mattress without blowing with your mouth. This reduces the amount of moisture that gets into the sleeping pad and makes inflation faster. The pump bag can also be used as a stuff sack during the trip.

Use and care

Clear the tent site of sharp rocks, branches and other objects before laying out the sleeping pad. It is advisable to use a protective tent floor or mat to reduce the risk of punctures and wear.

It is best to use the included pump bag when inflating. Do not fill the mattress unnecessarily hard, but adjust the firmness when you lie on it.

Clean the sleeping pad with lukewarm water, mild detergent and a soft cloth or sponge. The valves should be completely closed during cleaning. Do not use bleach, washing machine or dryer.

Allow the mat to air dry completely before storing. EXPED recommends storing it unrolled with the vents open in a dry, cool place. Keep the mat and the glue in the repair kit away from fire and strong heat sources.
