How is the Alpina Alaska BC sized?

Users' experiences of the fit vary. Several describe the Alaska BC as relatively compact across the forefoot and have chosen an EU size larger than their usual shoes, especially for wide feet or use of thicker socks. Others find that the size follows Alpina's Mondopoint chart well.

Therefore, start from the foot length and add approximately 2–3 mm to the measured measurement before comparing with the table. If the result is clearly between two sizes, you should normally choose the larger one.

Does the Alaska BC fit wide feet?

Alpina does not provide an official last width for the model and user reviews are not entirely consistent. Many experience a clear heel grip and a relatively close toe box, while others describe the fit as roomy.

The shape of the foot is therefore more important than a general assessment of the width. Do not choose several sizes larger just to get more width - then the ski boot may be too long and the heel may start to slip.

The leather upper can soften and adjust slightly after use, but the boot will not become longer. Therefore, the toes should have enough space already when trying them on.

How to measure your foot

1. Put on the ski sock you plan to use.
2. Place a piece of paper on the floor with the short side against a wall.
3. Place your heel lightly against the wall and put normal weight on your foot.
4. Mark where the longest toe ends.
5. Measure from the edge of the paper to the marking in millimeters.
6. Measure both feet and start from the longest one.
7. Add approximately 2–3 mm and compare the result with the table.

It's best to measure your feet in the afternoon or evening, as they are normally slightly larger than in the morning.

What socks should I use?

A medium-thick ski or merino sock is usually a good choice. The Alaska BC has Thinsulate insulation and doesn't need to be topped off with multiple thick socks for regular winter skiing.

Double or overly thick socks can make the boot tight, create pressure points and impair blood circulation, which can lead to colder feet despite the extra insulation.

If the boots are to be used in very cold conditions, you should try them on with the exact sock you plan to wear.

The Alpina Alaska BC is compatible with Rottefella NNN BC bindings, including models such as the NNN BC Manual and NNN BC Magnum.

The boot does not fit standard NNN, Prolink or Turnamic bindings and is not compatible with Xplore, SNS or 75mm. Always check the binding system on your skis or skates before purchasing.
