SiS Half Marathon Race Pack brings together sports nutrition for energy and hydration planning in one practical package for half marathon training and competition. The pack is designed to help runners test and train their energy intake during long runs, progressive runs and race-like training sessions.
The package contains four different product formats from Science in Sport:
Beta Fuel Energy Gel
Beta Fuel Energy Gel + Nootropics
Beta Fuel Energy Chews
HYDRO+ Electrolyte Drink Mix
Also included is a 600 ml SiS Wide Neck Water Bottle . Each product category is delivered as a 6-pack, meaning that the package contains a total of 24 portion-packed products plus the sports bottle.
The regular Beta Fuel gels and Nootropics gels provide 40g of carbs per gel , while a pack of Beta Fuel Energy Chews provides 45g of carbs . All use maltodextrin and fructose in a 1:0.8 ratio.
The 18 gels and chews together provide around 750 g of carbohydrates :
6 regular Beta Fuel Gels: 240 g
6 Beta Fuel + Nootropics Gels: 240 g
6 Beta Fuel Energy Chews: 270 g
The package therefore contains significantly more energy than is normally used during a single half marathon. The idea is that the products should also be used during the training period so that you can find a plan that works for your stomach, your pace and your estimated finishing time.
6 × SiS Beta Fuel Energy Gel
6 × SiS Beta Fuel Energy Gel + Nootropics
6 × SiS Beta Fuel Energy Chews
6 × SiS HYDRO+ Electrolyte Drink Mix

SiS Beta Fuel Energy Gel is a carbohydrate-rich gel for longer and more demanding endurance activities. Each gel provides:
40 g carbohydrates
Maltodextrin and fructose
Carbohydrate ratio 1:0.8
No added caffeine
Ready-made gel that does not need to be mixed
The gel can be consumed straight from the package and used alone or in combination with other products from the Beta Fuel series. SiS positions the product primarily for activities lasting two hours or longer.
A regular Beta Fuel Gel is suitable when you want to:
Supply a clear amount of carbohydrates
Avoid caffeine early in the race
Switch between gels and energy chews
Control caffeine intake separately
Get a lot of carbohydrates in a compact package
Beta Fuel + Nootropics combines 40g of carbohydrates with caffeine and several other active ingredients.
Each gel contains:
40 g carbohydrates
200 mg caffeine
250 mg Cognizin® Citicoline
1 g L-taurine
200 mg L-theanine
Maltodextrin and fructose in a ratio of 1:0.8
Science in Sport recommends a maximum of one Nootropics gel per day . The gel should therefore be used as a planned caffeine boost and not in the same way as the caffeine-free Beta Fuel gels.
Also include caffeine from:
Coffee
Energy drinks
Other caffeine gels
Caffeine tablets
Pre-workout products
Dietary supplements
High caffeine content. Not recommended for children or pregnant or breastfeeding people.
SiS Beta Fuel Energy Chews are a soft and chewable alternative to energy gel. One pack provides:
45 g carbohydrates
Maltodextrin and fructose
Carbohydrate ratio 1:0.8
Approximately 7.5 g of carbohydrates per smaller block
Possibility to eat the whole product or divide it into smaller pieces
Chews are great for when you want to vary the consistency during a long workout or race. They can be eaten as one continuous soft bar or broken up and consumed gradually.
The chewable format can be particularly convenient:
During quieter parts of the race
Before starting
During longer workouts
When you start to get tired of the gel consistency
When you want to distribute the energy in smaller amounts
During high intensity running, the product should be consumed with caution as it needs to be chewed thoroughly.
HYDRO+ is an electrolyte powder in a sachet. One sachet is mixed with 500 ml of cold water .
Each serving contains five important electrolytes:
Sodium
Potassium
Calcium
Magnesium
Chloride
One serving provides a total of 1,576 mg of electrolytes and also contains vitamin C, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. Vitamin C contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, while vitamins B6 and B12 contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
Fill the sports bottle with 500 ml of cold water.
Empty one sachet into the bottle.
Close the bottle and shake well.
Wait until the powder is completely dissolved.
It is best to consume the drink immediately after mixing.
HYDRO+ is primarily an electrolyte product and does not provide the same amount of carbohydrates as gels and chews. Therefore, energy needs to be planned separately.
The included sports bottle holds 600 ml and has a wide opening that makes it easier to fill and mix powder.
The bottle can be used for:
HYDRO+ electrolyte drink
Water during long sessions
Sports drink
Drink before the start of the race
Fluid after exercise
Since HYDRO+ is mixed with 500 ml of water, there is enough space left in the bottle to shake the mixture thoroughly.
The SiS Half Marathon Race Pack is intended for use both during the training period and on race day.
Use the long passes to test:
How much carbohydrates your stomach can tolerate
What flavors do you prefer?
Whether gel or chew works best
How often you need energy
How much water you need with the products
When caffeine fits into the plan
If the chews are easy to chew at race pace
Science in Sport recommends that you practice your energy plan before the race and that you do not change your strategy on race day.
Mix one HYDRO+ sachet with 500 ml of water and drink according to individual needs before the start.
Avoid drinking unnecessarily large amounts right before the race. Fluid intake needs to be adjusted according to temperature, body size, previous fluid intake and how much you usually sweat.
Beta Fuel Gel and Energy Chews can be combined to reach the amount of carbohydrates that have been tested during training.
Examples of quantities:
| Product | Carbohydrates |
| 1 Beta Fuel Gel | 40g |
| ½ Beta Fuel Energy Chew | Approximately 22–23 g |
| 1 Beta Fuel Energy Chew | 45g |
| 1 Gel + ½ Chew | Approximately 62–63 g |
| 1 Gel + 1 Chew | 85g |
| 2 Beta Fuel Gels | 80g |
Water should be available along with gels and chews. However, the total amount of fluid needs to be adjusted according to weather, intensity and individual sweat loss.
Science in Sport shows the following example of energy intake for an estimated finishing time of around two hours:
| Time | Product |
| Approximately 30 minutes | Beta Fuel + Nootropics Gel and about 150 ml of water |
| Approximately 60 minutes | Beta Fuel Energy Gel and approximately 150 ml of water |
| Approximately 80 minutes | Beta Fuel Energy Chew and approximately 150 ml of water |
| Approximately 100 minutes | Beta Fuel Energy Gel and approximately 150 ml of water |
The setup provides a total of approximately 165 g of carbohydrates and should be seen as a manufacturer's example, not a universal recommendation. The amount may be too high for runners who have not trained to consume a large amount of carbohydrates.
With a shorter finish time, the need for energy during the race may be lower. A possible approach could be a gel before or during the race, depending on previous meals and individual tolerance.
During a race of about two hours, several smaller energy intakes may be easier to manage than a large amount at one time.
Example:
A Beta Fuel Gel divided over the first part of the race
Half an Energy Chew later in the race
Water at the hydration stations
Runners who are out for longer may need a more comprehensive energy and hydration plan. Science in Sport suggests 60g of carbohydrates per hour for finish times under two hours and a higher target for longer races, but the amount should always be adjusted according to individual tolerance.
A high carbohydrate intake should be trained in gradually and not introduced only on competition day.
Your stomach and intestines need to get used to handling energy while you run. A setup that works at rest won't necessarily work at race pace.
Therefore, test the products during workouts that mimic the race:
Same approximate intensity
Same time of day
Similar breakfast
Similar fluid intake
Same shoes and equipment
Same planned interval between energy products
Start with a lower amount and gradually increase if your stomach works well.
Half marathon
Long-distance running
Long workouts
Progressive long sessions
Trail running
Shorter ultra races
Cross-country skiing
Triathlon
Cycling and gravel
Training camp
Runners who want to try multiple energy formats
Athletes who want to train their energy intake
The package includes:
12 energy gels
6 packs of energy chews
6 HYDRO+ bags
1 sports bottle
This means that it is enough for several training sessions and for competition day. The exact number of sessions the package will last depends on how much energy is used during each activity.
A possible arrangement could be:
A number of products for three to five long sessions
Some products for a competitive test session
A selection for the half marathon itself
HYDRO+ before or after several sessions
Don't use all the gels and chews during a race just because they are included in the package.
SiS Half Marathon Race Pack:
18 gels and chews
6 HYDRO+ bags
600 ml sports bottle
Does not contain a recovery jar
Suitable for half marathon training and racing
SiS Marathon Race Pack:
Has a more comprehensive package composition
Includes products for longer workouts and races
The current version also includes REGO Clear Recovery
Suitable for a longer training and competition schedule
The Half Marathon Race Pack is the more concentrated option for runners who are primarily training for 21.1 kilometers.
The package contains several different products and the ingredient list varies depending on which flavors are selected or delivered.
Please note in particular that:
The Nootropics gels contain 200 mg of caffeine.
Gels and chews contain maltodextrin and fructose.
HYDRO+ contains electrolytes and vitamins.
Flavors, acids, sweeteners, and coloring ingredients may vary between flavors.
Recipes can be changed between production runs.
Always check the ingredient, allergen and nutritional information on each individual package before consumption.
Each Beta Fuel + Nootropics Gel contains 200 mg of caffeine , and Science in Sport states a maximum of one serving per day.
Therefore, do not use multiple Nootropics gels during the same race. The package contains six so that they can be tested during different training sessions and used on separate occasions.
Caffeine's effects and tolerance vary between individuals. Test the product during training before using in competition and avoid it late in the day if caffeine affects your sleep.
Store the products in a dry and cool place, protected from direct sunlight and high temperatures.
Gels and chews should not be stored in extreme cold or heat as the consistency may change. HYDRO+ sachets should be kept dry until use.
Clean your sports bottle after each use. Rinse it immediately after using a sports or electrolyte drink to reduce the risk of odor and deposits.
Train your energy intake before the race.
Do not try new products on race day.
Use no more than one Nootropics gel per day.
Include caffeine from all sources.
Add up carbohydrates from gels, chews and other energy.
Adjust fluid intake according to temperature and sweat loss.
Do not consume the entire contents of the packet in one go.
Always check the current ingredient and allergen information.
Sports nutrition does not replace a varied and balanced diet.
The package contains a 6-pack each of Beta Fuel Energy Gel, Beta Fuel + Nootropics Gel, Beta Fuel Energy Chews and HYDRO+ Electrolyte Drink Mix as well as a 600 ml sports bottle.
There are a total of 18 energy products included: twelve gels and six packs of energy chews.
