Umara U Bicarbonate Capsules (500x1g)

Umara's U Bicarbonate increases blood pH so you can train harder during your anaerobic intensive sessions such as intervals and threshold sessions.

The jar contains 500 capsules with 1g of bicarbonate per capsule. This gives 20-30 doses depending on body weight (see table below).

How does bicarbonate help you perform?

In the body we have a pH of 7.4 and bicarbonate which buffers the pH itself has a pH value of 8.3. The research shows that if you take bicarbonate in sufficient quantity, you will increase your pH in the body and then have a little extra capacity to push out before the muscles become too acidic and you cannot perform. You can simply stay extra long at or above threshold, or push out that last minute on the last intervals.

The problem that previously arose was the gas formation that occurred when the bicarbonate with pH 8.3 passes through the stomach with pH 1.5. The large difference in pH between bicarbonate and stomach creates a strong chemical reaction when the alkaline meets a very acidic environment and a reaction occurs with gas formation as a result = not nice for your stomach.

Umara has solved this by encapsulating the bicarbonate in special acid-resistant capsules that pass through the stomach and release the bicarbonate first into the small intestine where it is then absorbed by the blood.

The difference in pH between bicarbonate and small intestine, where the bicarbonate is absorbed, is low, which reduces the risk of stomach problems, but with a maintained effect. #sciencebyumara

The number of portions in the can varies depending on body weight because a portion is body weight adapted. The table below is based on the intake of 0.2g/kg bodyweight, which corresponds to 1 capsule per 5kg bodyweight. If you weigh 75kg, 15 capsules will be your dose. See below table.

If you notice no effect, increase the intake to 0.3g/kg body weight.

Recommended intake based on body weight*

The following recommendation is the standard recommendation and it provides 0.3g bicarbonate/kg body weight (equivalent to 1 capsule per 3.3kg body weight), which research has shown to be a performance-enhancing dose when bicarbonate is taken in powder form. Start with acute dose and use buffering only if you cannot handle acute dose.

With capsules, it is theoretically possible to lower the dose down to 0.2g bicarbonate/kg body weight according to the following table. Our recommendation is to start according to the table below with 0.2g/kg body weight. If it works well, increase gradually up to 0.3g/k according to the table above. But intake according to the table below is a good starting dose for most people.
