The Sea To Summit Pocket Trowel - Orange is a compact and foldable toilet trowel for hiking, camping, kayaking and other outdoor activities. It helps you manage toileting responsibly when there is no access to a regular toilet.
The shovel is made of glass-fiber reinforced Nylon 66 and weighs only about 87 grams. The telescopic handle slides into the blade for transport, reducing the length from about 25 to 15 centimeters. The orange color also makes the shovel easier to find among other equipment or on the ground.
When the shovel is to be used, the handle is pulled out and locked in the extended position. The full length provides better grip and leverage when digging, while the collapsed shape takes up little space in your backpack.
The construction has no loose metal parts and is made to work even at very low temperatures. The low weight makes the Pocket Trowel especially practical for hiking and other activities where every gram and centimeter of your pack counts.
The blade and handle are made of Nylon 66 with 45 percent glass fiber reinforcement. The material provides a good combination of low weight, stiffness and durability.
The trowel is best suited for regular forest soil, sand and softer ground. For very rocky ground, hard packed soil or dense root systems, a more robust tool, such as the Sea to Summit Pocket Trowel Alloy, may be more suitable. Do not use the nylon trowel as a crowbar and avoid trying to pry loose larger rocks.
The hollow handle has a storage compartment for smaller items. You can place a small roll of toilet paper or a lighter there, for example, so that important accessories are kept together and easy to reach.
The closure parts are made of Nylon 66. Sensitive items should be protected separately from moisture.

Use a regular toilet when available and always follow local regulations for the area. If burying human waste is permitted, choose a suitable location away from water, trails and campsites and follow the recommended digging depth for the area.
Cover the pit properly after use and restore the soil surface. Wet wipes, hygiene items, packaging and other waste should always be taken with you. Toilet paper regulations vary between areas, and in sensitive environments, even human waste may need to be unpacked.
Wash the shovel after use with warm water and, if necessary, a mild detergent. The nylon material can withstand very hot water. Allow all parts to dry completely before folding the handle and packing the shovel away.
Store the shovel away from food, kitchen utensils and drinking water. Regularly check that the handle can be pulled out and locked properly and that the blade is not cracked or otherwise damaged. Avoid open flames and high heat.
