The Ortovox Free Rider 22 is a compact and body-hugging freeride backpack for fast-paced days on skis or snowboards. The 22-liter volume accommodates avalanche equipment, reinforcement clothing, fluids and other daily gear without the backpack becoming unnecessarily bulky.

The elastic CLASP FLEX BELT hip belt, soft back pads and integrated compression straps keep the pack firmly positioned close to the body. The construction provides good freedom of movement and control during technical riding.

Body-hugging CLASP back system

The flat and elastic CLASP FLEX BELT follows the body's movements and helps stabilize the backpack during rapid changes in direction. Soft back pads mold to the shape of your back without restricting the spine's natural movement.

The integrated compression straps reduce the volume of the backpack and pull the pack closer to the body, giving a more stable feel when the backpack is not fully loaded.

Prepared for CLASP Spine Protector

On the inside there is a separate compartment for the Ortovox CLASP Spine Protector. The optional back protector slides into the compartment and makes it possible to combine backpack and back protector without wearing a separate protective vest.

CLASP Spine Protector is sold separately and is not included with the backpack.

Quick access to the gasket

The main compartment can be opened from both the front and the back panel. The back access allows you to reach your pack without having to put the snow-covered front against your back. It is also practical when skis or snowboards are mounted on the outside.

Shovel, probe and other emergency equipment are stored separately from the main pack in a separate security compartment with dedicated holders. The equipment is kept organized and quickly accessible in the event of an accident.

Mounts for skis and winter equipment

The Ortovox Free Rider 22 has both diagonal and side-mounted ski mounts. A snowboard or snowshoe can be attached to the side, while two ice axes and ropes have their own attachment points.

An integrated helmet net makes it easy to transport your helmet during the ascent. The backpack is also compatible with hydration systems and has a sternum strap with signal whistle and Ortovox Emergency Card.

The Ortovox Free Rider 22 is not an avalanche airbag backpack. CLASP Spine Protector, avalanche equipment, helmet and hydration system are sold separately.

When traveling in avalanche terrain, each person must wear an avalanche transceiver on their body and have their own shovel and probe. The equipment does not replace avalanche knowledge, current avalanche forecasts, careful route selection, or regular rescue training.

Care instructions

Empty all compartments after use and brush off snow and dirt. Clean the backpack by hand with lukewarm water, a soft cloth and, if necessary, a mild detergent. Do not machine wash or tumble dry the backpack.

Allow it to air dry completely with the compartments open, away from direct sunlight and strong heat sources. Regularly check straps, buckles, zippers and equipment attachments.
