The Ortovox Bivy Single is a robust bivy bag for one person, developed to provide protection against wind, moisture and dirt during mountain and alpine tours. It can be used as extra protection around the sleeping bag during a planned bivouac or as essential safety equipment in the event of an accident, unexpected weather changes or a delayed return trip.
The bivy sack is made of durable 70D polyester ripstop and weighs approximately 280 grams. The clear orange signal color makes the user easier to spot, while the solid and compressible storage bag with roll closure keeps the pack volume down.
Unlike the thinnest emergency bivy sacks, the Bivy Single is designed with durability and reliability in mind. The ripstop fabric helps limit damage if the material is subjected to minor tears, and the robust construction is well suited for regular use.
This makes the model particularly suitable for summit tours, high alpine tours, climbing, freeride and other activities where the equipment may come into contact with rocks, snow and demanding terrain.
The material is windproof and has a PU coating that makes the bivy bag water and dirt repellent. By protecting against the wind, it can reduce cooling when you need to stay in an exposed location for a long time.
The PU coating provides protection against moisture and light precipitation, but the bivy bag should not be considered a full-fledged tent or a complete overnight system for prolonged rain.
The bright Shocking Orange color is chosen to make the bivy bag easier to spot in an emergency. The clear contrast against snow, rocks and vegetation can make it easier for rescue workers or other people searching for you.
The bivy bag can also be used as a visible marker when you need to attract attention.
The compressible storage bag is attached to the bivy sack, reducing the risk of it being lost. The roll closure allows the contents to be compressed so that the bivy sack takes up as little space as possible in the backpack.
With a weight of approximately 280 grams, it is easy to carry on both day trips and longer tours.

Practice unfolding, using, and packing up your bivy bag before your trip. This way you'll know how it works if you need to use it quickly.
Allow the bivouac to dry completely after use and store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Regularly check the fabric, seams and PU coating. Replace or repair the bivouac if it has holes, large tears or other damage that impairs protection.
