Lundhags Norröra Rescue Line PRO is a 24 meter long floating rescue line for cross-country skating and other activities on natural ice. The line is made of polypropylene and comes packed in a throw bag that glides easily over ice and snow.
The PRO model has a removable throw weight that can be replaced with spare parts or smaller tools, making the rescue rope a practical choice for skaters who want to combine safety equipment with a small repair kit.
The polypropylene rope floats in water and is 24 meters long. It is used in buddy rescue to create distance between the rescuer and the person who has fallen through the ice.
The storage bag is designed to slide over ice and snow when thrown. An adjustable handle allows the grip to be customized to the user and the equipment being carried.
The throwing weight helps to give the bag the right weight for a controlled throw. On the Norröra Rescue Line PRO, the weight can be removed and replaced with, for example, smaller tools or spare parts.
If the weight is replaced, the contents should have an appropriate and evenly distributed weight, so that the throwing bag still functions as intended. Always check the packing and test throw the line under safe conditions before taking it out on the ice.

At the back of the rope is a metal ring that can be placed on the ice and held in place with the foot. This provides better grip and helps the user hold the rope during a buddy rescue.
The rescue line can also be used in conjunction with a compatible safety system where the line is anchored to the backpack's rescue harness. Always follow the instructions for the backpack and safety harness being used.
According to Lundhags, the casting weight is the only difference between the models:
Norröra Rescue Line PRO: Has a removable casting weight that can be replaced with tools or spare parts.
Norröra Rescue Line: Has a fixed casting weight that cannot be removed.
Both models have a 24-meter long floating polypropylene line and a storage bag that is adapted for throwing over ice and snow.
A lifeline is most useful when you know how to pack, throw, and anchor it, so practice using the line with your regular skating equipment in safe and controlled conditions.
Also check that the rescue line is easily accessible on your backpack. It should be possible to retrieve it without having to take off your backpack or approach a weak ice edge.
In the event of a real accident, the emergency services should be alerted via 112 as soon as the situation allows.
The lifeline is intended to help others and should be supplemented with personal safety equipment. When traveling on natural ice, each participant should have easily accessible ice cleats, ice spikes, a properly packed backpack with buoyancy, and a waterproof change of clothes.
Ride with others, keep your distance at unsafe passages and always adapt the tour to weather, ice conditions and the group's experience.
Remove the line after use and allow both the line and the casting bag to dry before repacking. Check regularly:
That the rope is free from cuts and heavy wear
That seams and handles are intact
That the metal ring is properly seated
That the throwing weight or tools are securely placed
That the line runs freely out of the bag
Do not use the rescue rope if any important part is damaged or if the rope's strength is uncertain.
