Lundhags Striim is a double ice spike for cross-country skating and other activities on natural ice. The hardened aluminum construction is combined with components from Swix, comfortable EVA grips and reflective details for good function on cold winter days.
One pole has extra weight for more effective pecking when checking the quality of the ice and discovering thinner areas. The poles float both when connected together and individually.
An ice pick is used to test the strength of ice and detect changes in ice quality. The Striim's weighted pole provides more force in the blow, making it easier to use than a traditional single ice pick.
The spikes can also be used separately. The square tips are supplied with protection that covers the tips during transport and storage.
The EVA handles provide a comfortable grip and insulate your hands from the cold aluminum pole. The reflective details make the poles easier to spot in the dark, twilight and poor light conditions.

Lundhags generally recommends that an ice spike is about 30 cm shorter than your body height.
132 cm: Fits approximate body height 162 cm
138 cm: Fits approximate body height 168 cm
144 cm: Fits approximate body height 174 cm
150 cm: Fits approximate body length 180 cm
156 cm: Fits approximate body height 186 cm
The recommendation is a guideline. Personal technique and how you prefer to use the ice spike may also influence the choice of length.
The Lundhags Striim is primarily an ice spike and part of the safety equipment on natural ice. Lundhags therefore recommends that the Striim be used without wrist straps. If the ice breaks, the spikes should be able to be quickly released and not get stuck around the wrists.
An ice pick will help you explore the ice but can never guarantee that it is safe. The strength of the ice can vary over short distances and is affected by factors such as currents, temperature, snow, docks and vegetation.
When cross-country skating, you should also have easily accessible ice cleats, a lifeline, ice spikes, a properly packed backpack with buoyancy, and a waterproof change of clothes. Ride with others and always adapt the trip to ice conditions, weather, and experience.
