Powerbar Fuel Gel 30 Cola-Orange + Caffeine is developed for runners, cyclists, triathletes and other endurance athletes who want to combine 30 grams of carbohydrates with caffeine and sodium in a compact serving package.

Each gel contains:

30 g carbohydrates

100mg caffeine

205 mg sodium

0.51g salt

15 g sugars

The fruity combination of cola and orange provides an alternative to traditional lemon, peach and berry flavours. The gel contains caffeine and is therefore best used as a planned caffeine boost during a workout or race, not as a standard gel for every energy intake.

Powerbars Black Line uses a carbohydrate system based on products with 30, 60 or 90 grams of carbohydrates. Fuel Gel 30 makes it easy to plan and count energy intake in 30 gram increments.

Ingredients

Water, maltodextrin (28%), fructose (22%), acidity regulators: citric acid, sodium citrate, salt, caffeine (0.2%) and natural flavouring.

30 g carbohydrates per gel

Each sachet provides 30 g of carbohydrates , making the product easy to use in a predetermined energy plan.

1 gel provides 30 g of carbohydrates

2 Fuel Gel 30 products provide 60 g

3 Fuel Gel 30 products provide 90 g

Since Cola-Orange + Caffeine contains 100 mg of caffeine and has a maximum dose of one sachet per day, additional carbohydrates should come from caffeine-free gels, sports drinks, chews, bars or food.

Powerbar Fuel Gel 30 is part of the 30/60/90 system and provides 30 grams of carbohydrates per serving.

Ratio 1:0.8

The carbohydrates come from maltodextrin and fructose in a ratio of 1:0.8 between the glucose and fructose sources .

Maltodextrin acts as a glucose source, while fructose uses a different transport pathway for absorption. Combinations of multiple carbohydrate sources are often used in sports nutrition intended for higher carbohydrate intake during prolonged activities.

Individual tolerance varies, so a high carbohydrate intake needs to be tested and gradually introduced during regular training sessions.

100mg caffeine

Each gel contains 100 mg of caffeine . The product's declared caffeine content is 200 mg per 100 ml, which corresponds to 100 mg in a 50 ml sachet.

Add up the caffeine from all sources during the day:

Coffee

Energy drink

Tea and cola

Other caffeine gels

PWO

Caffeine tablets

Dietary supplements

Do not take multiple Cola-Orange + Caffeine gels in the same day. Powerbar's current product information states one sachet per day during intense physical activity for the caffeinated flavors.

Caffeine sensitivity varies. In some people, caffeine can cause restlessness, tremors, stomach upset, palpitations, or impaired sleep.

205 mg sodium

Each gel provides 205 mg of sodium and 0.51 grams of salt.

Sodium is an electrolyte that is lost through sweat. The need is influenced by, among other things:

Activity duration

Temperature and humidity

Individual sweat rate

Sweat salinity

Fluid intake

Other sports nutrition

Add up the sodium from gels, sports drinks, electrolyte tablets, bars and food. More sodium is not automatically better.

Recommended use

For the caffeinated Cola-Orange variant, Powerbar states:

Take a serving bag during intense physical activity.

Consume the gel directly from the package.

Take a maximum of one caffeinated Fuel Gel 30 per day.

Plan other carbohydrate intake with caffeine-free products.

Drink fluids separately according to individual needs.

The general recommendation of 1–3 Fuel Gel 30 per hour applies to the caffeine-free flavors. For Cola-Orange + Caffeine, a maximum of one gel per day applies.

Example of energy layout

60 g carbohydrates with one serving of caffeine

1 Fuel Gel 30 Cola-Orange + Caffeine: 30 g carbohydrates and 100 mg caffeine

1 caffeine-free Fuel Gel 30: 30 g carbohydrates

Total: 60 g carbohydrates and 100 mg caffeine

90 g carbohydrates with one serving of caffeine

1 Fuel Gel 30 Cola-Orange + Caffeine: 30 g

1 caffeine-free Fuel Gel 30: 30 g

1 Fuel Drink 30 or equivalent caffeine-free product: 30 g

Total: 90 g carbohydrates and 100 mg caffeine

Powerbar demonstrates the same basic principle in its system: a caffeinated gel is combined with caffeine-free products to reach the planned carbohydrate intake.

When is caffeine gel suitable?

Cola-Orange + Caffeine is suitable when you want to add a clearly defined caffeine portion to your energy plan, for example:

Before or during an intense race

During the latter part of a longer cycling session

Facing a demanding part of a triathlon competition

During a long-distance race where caffeine has been tested beforehand

When other gels and drinks are caffeine-free

The timing should be tested during training. Do not use a caffeine gel for the first time during an important race.

Does the gel need to be taken with water?

Powerbar Fuel Gel 30 is easy to consume without having to drink water immediately afterwards.

This does not mean that the gel replaces fluids. Plan water or sports drink separately based on:

Temperature

Humidity

Intensity

Activity duration

Individual sweat loss

Access to hydration stations

Water along with the gel can also reduce the perceived sweetness and make it easier to consume at high intensity.

Road running

Half marathon and marathon

The consistency is designed to be easy to squeeze out of the package and consume on the go. It can become firmer in the cold and thinner at high temperatures.
