The OMM Aether Ms Jacket is an extremely durable, ultra-light and fully waterproof shell jacket , developed for mountain running, alpine environments and fast-and-light adventures where durability must not come at the expense of weight . Weighing only around 225 grams, the Aether delivers performance on par with heavy alpine shell jackets , but in a format suitable for high speed and long distances.

The jacket is constructed from Dyneema®-reinforced nylon , a material that is 15 times stronger than steel for its weight , but with a weight closer to silk. Used in everything from climbing harnesses and ballistic protection to boating gear , Dyneema gives the Aether exceptional resistance to tearing, abrasion and long-term wear . This makes it one of OMM’s most durable jackets – both in practice and from a lifecycle perspective.

The Aether Ms Jacket is built in a 3-layer construction , with:

a durable outer material in Dyneema/Nylon ,

a waterproof but highly breathable membrane ,

as well as a woven backer that keeps condensation away from the skin.

This construction provides significantly better comfort at high intensity compared to thinner 2-layer jackets often used in running.

With a 20,000 mm water column and 20,000 g/m² breathability, the jacket can withstand prolonged heavy rain, strong winds and intense exertion in exposed locations – from rain-swept moors to alpine ridges. At the same time , PFC-free DWR and a PFAS-free membrane are used, with Dyneema being made from recycled material and enabling recycling even at the end of the product’s life.

The fit is Active/Performance , with details tailored for running and movement in technical terrain: a fully adjustable, laminated and reinforced hood , extended dynamic droptail , integrated thumbholes , as well as high-positioned hand pockets that work with a backpack or harness.

The OMM Aether Men's Jacket is a durable and lightweight 3-layer shell jacket for running, alpine adventures and demanding mountain conditions. The jacket features a Regular Fit combined with a movement-friendly Active Cut, giving an athletic fit with room for layers underneath.

Start with your chest measurement first. Also check your height and waist measurement and take into account what garments you plan to wear under the jacket.

How is the OMM Aether Men's Jacket sized?

The Aether Jacket features an OMM Regular Fit, making it slightly roomier than the brand's more fitted silhouettes. The fit is still performance-oriented and designed to reduce unnecessary bulk during running and fast movement.

The jacket should allow for a base layer and a thinner mid layer without being tight across the chest, shoulders or back. The movement-friendly cut provides extra freedom of movement, but the material should not be pulled taut when you lift or stretch your arms.

Our size recommendation

Normally choose the size that corresponds to your chest measurement.

  • If your chest measurement is in the middle of a range, we recommend the current size.
  • If you are between two sizes and mainly use thin layers, the smaller size can provide a more snug fit.
  • Choose the larger size if you are near the upper end of the range, have broad shoulders, or want to use a heavier midlayer.
  • Also check the waist measurement if your chest and waist measurements correspond to different sizes.
  • Avoid a jacket that is too big, as excess material can flutter and become bulky while running.

Layers under the jacket

The size should be chosen based on how you plan to use the Aether Jacket.

Over base layer or thin running shirt: Normally choose your usual size according to your chest measurement.

Over base layers and thin midlayers: Regular Fit should usually provide enough room in your normal size.

Over a thicker insulation layer: Consider going up a size, especially if you're near the upper end of the size range.

How do you measure?

Chest: Measure horizontally around the widest part of the chest. Let your arms hang relaxed.

Waist: Measure around the natural waist without tightening the tape measure.

Body length: Measure barefoot from the floor to the highest point of the head.

Please measure and try on the same base and midlayers that you plan to use under the shell jacket.

Check the fit

Close the jacket and perform some movements that correspond to your intended use. Check that:

  • the jacket is not tight across the chest, shoulders or shoulder blades
  • you can stretch your arms forward and over your head
  • the sleeves cover the wrists when the arms are bent
  • the thumb loops can be used without the sleeves pulling
  • the extended back stays in place when you lean forward
  • The bottom hem can be adjusted without restricting movement.
  • The hood follows the movements of the head without pulling on the neck.
  • your planned layers fit without the jacket being too tight
  • the fit is close enough to avoid unnecessary fluttering

The right size should provide full freedom of movement and space for functional layers, while maintaining the jacket's active and flexible fit.
