The OMM Aether Jacket Womens is an exceptionally durable, ultra-lightweight and fully waterproof women's shell jacket , developed for mountain running, alpine environments and fast-and-light adventures where both durability and light weight are essential . Weighing in at just 190 grams, the Aether delivers protection on par with significantly heavier alpine shell jackets , but in a format suited to high intensity and long distances.

The jacket is made from Dyneema®-reinforced nylon , a material that is 15 times stronger than steel for its weight , but with a weight closer to silk. Used in everything from climbing gear and ballistic protection to sails and rigging , Dyneema gives the Aether unparalleled resistance to abrasion, tearing and long-term wear . This makes it one of OMM’s most durable jackets to date – both in practice and from a lifecycle perspective.

The Aether Jacket Womens is built in a 3-layer construction with:

durable outer fabric in Dyneema®/Nylon ,

waterproof but highly breathable membrane ,

and a woven backer that separates condensation from the skin.

Compared to thinner 2-layer running shells, this provides significantly better comfort during prolonged use and high heart rate , especially in cool and wet conditions.

With a 20,000 mm water column and 20,000 g/m²/24h breathability, the jacket can withstand persistent rain, strong winds and intense activity in exposed locations – from rain-swept moors to alpine chambers. At the same time, PFC-free DWR and a PFAS-free membrane are used, with Dyneema being made from recycled material, enabling a more circular and long-lasting product .

The fit is Active / women's , with running-specific details such as a fully adjustable and laminated hood , integrated thumbholes , extended dynamic droptail and high-positioned hand pockets that also work with a backpack or harness.

The OMM Aether Jacket Women's is a lightweight and durable 3-layer shell jacket for running, mountain and alpine adventures. The jacket has a Regular Fit and a women's-specific Active Cut that combines space for functional layers with a movement-friendly fit.

Start with your bust measurement first. Also check your hip measurement and body length, and take into account what garments you plan to wear under the jacket.

How is the OMM Aether Jacket Women's sized?

The Aether Jacket Women's has a regular, performance-oriented fit. The Regular Fit provides more room than OMM's body-hugging Fitted models, but the jacket is still designed to reduce unnecessary bulk when running and moving quickly.

The women's specific cut takes into account the proportions across the bust, waist and hips. The jacket should allow space for a base layer and a thinner mid layer without being tight across the chest, shoulders or back.

Our size recommendation

Normally choose the size that corresponds to your bust measurement.

  • If the bust measurement is in the middle of a range, we recommend the current size.
  • If you are between two sizes and only use thin layers, the smaller size can provide a more snug fit.
  • Choose the larger size if you are near the upper end of the range or want to use a thicker midsole.
  • If your bust and hip measurements correspond to different sizes, you should primarily choose the larger one.
  • If you have broad shoulders or need extra room to move across your back, you should not go down a size.
  • Avoid a jacket that is too big, as excess material can flutter and feel bulky while running.

Layers under the jacket

Over base layer or thin running shirt: Normally choose your size according to your bust measurement.

Over base layers and thin midlayers: Regular Fit should usually provide enough room in your normal size.

Over a heavier insulation layer: Consider a size up, especially if you are near the upper limit of your bust or hip measurements.

The jacket should not need to be stretched out to accommodate the layers underneath. A midlayer works best when it is not compressed too tightly.

How do you measure?

Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your bust. Keep the measuring tape horizontal and relaxed.

Hip: Measure around the widest part of the hip and seat.

Body length: Measure barefoot from the floor to the highest point of the head.

Please measure and try on the same base and midlayers that you plan to use under the shell jacket.

Check the fit

Close the jacket over your planned layers and check that:

  • the jacket is not tight across the bust, shoulders or shoulder blades
  • you can stretch your arms forward and over your head
  • the material is not pulled taut across the back
  • The hem provides enough space above the hip.
  • the sleeves cover the wrists when the arms are bent
  • the thumb loops can be used without the sleeves pulling
  • the extended back stays in place when you lean forward
  • The hood follows the movements of the head without pulling on the neck.
  • your planned layers fit without restricting movement
  • the jacket fits close enough to avoid unnecessary fluttering

The right size should provide full freedom of movement and space for functional layers, while maintaining the jacket's smooth and performance-oriented fit.
