The OMM Sonic Smock is an ultra-light, extremely breathable windbreaker , developed for trail running, mountain running and activities where light weight and high breathability are essential . Weighing in at just around 48 grams (size M), the Sonic concept takes it to the extreme by using a half-length zipper for minimal weight and maximum freedom of movement.
The smock is made from PointZero™ material , a very thin and windproof nylon ripstop fabric that provides effective protection against wind without trapping heat. The fabric is also treated with DWR (Durable Water Repellency) to resist light rain, snow and splashes – although the Sonic Smock is primarily a wind garment and not a waterproof shell.
The minimalist design means minimal stitching and offset shoulder seams , reducing chafing when worn with a running vest or backpack. The Sonic Smock is ultra-packable and can be stowed away in its own collar , allowing it to fit in a pocket or vest and always be ready to be pulled out when the wind picks up.
Practical details like thumb loops help keep the garment in place over the hands during windy runs, while reflective details increase visibility when running in the dark. The Sonic Smock is the half-zip version of the Sonic series and is especially appreciated in competition and fast alpine movements where every gram counts.

The OMM Sonic Smock is an ultra-lightweight half-zip windbreaker with a close-fitting running fit. The model follows OMM men's sizing and is primarily designed to be worn over a base layer or a thin running shirt.
The measurements in the table are body measurements, not garment measurements.
| Size | Chest circumference | Waist circumference |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 76–86 cm | 71–76 cm |
| S | 86–91 cm | 76–81 cm |
| M | 91–102cm | 81–86cm |
| L | 102–109 cm | 86–91 cm |
| XL | 109–117cm | 91–97cm |
Start with the chest circumference first. If your chest and waist correspond to different sizes, you should choose the largest measurement.
OMM classifies the Sonic Smock as Fitted , which means a close-fitting and performance-oriented fit. The garment is designed to sit close to the body and reduce flutter when running in wind.
The fit can feel smaller and slimmer than many other brands, especially across the shoulders and upper arms. The PointZero material is very thin and does not have the same stretch as the OMM Kamleika material.
Because the Sonic Smock is a half-zip cover-up, it also needs to be roomy enough to easily be pulled over the head and shoulders.
Measure around the widest part of your chest, usually just below your armpits. Hold the tape measure horizontally across your back and do not pull it too tight.
Measure around your natural waist, usually where your upper body bends when you lean to the side. Hold the measuring tape comfortably against your body.
Please measure with the base layer or midlayer that you plan to wear under the garment.
The correct size should:
The Sonic Smock is primarily an ultra-light windbreaker and not a roomy outerwear for multiple thick layers. If it is to be worn regularly over fleece or light insulation, a size larger is normally recommended.
