The Ortovox Cross Rider 22 is a lightweight and compact ski backpack for top tours, freeriding and active days in the mountains. With a 22 liter pack volume and a weight of approximately 850 grams, it holds the most important equipment for the trip without feeling unnecessarily large or heavy.

With a separate inner compartment for an avalanche probe and shovel, access to the main compartment from both the front and back, and multiple mounts for skis, snowboards, snowshoes, ice axe, and poles, the Cross Rider 22 is a versatile option for shorter summit tours and powder skiing.

Separate compartment for shovel and probe

The shovel and probe are stored in an organized manner in a separate secure compartment closest to the main compartment. The equipment is easily accessible while keeping hard parts away from the back, which improves carrying comfort.

The bright interior makes it easier to find your gear in low light. The backpack has a total of six compartments, including a map compartment, hip belt pocket and a smaller compartment with a key holder.

Access from the front and back

The main compartment can be opened both from the front and through the back panel, allowing you to access your gear even when other gear is attached to the backpack. The back opening is especially handy when the backpack is facing the snow and you want to keep the padded back panel dry.

The thermoformed contact back, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps and hip belt keep the pack stable close to the body during both uphill and downhill skiing.

Mounts for ski and touring equipment

The Cross Rider 22 has both diagonal and side-mounted ski mounts. The wide ski mount can accommodate skis with a maximum width of 150 mm. Snowboards or snowshoes can be attached to the outside of the backpack.

An integrated helmet net keeps your helmet in place during the ascent, while separate attachments are provided for ice axes, ski poles and trekking poles. The compression strap helps stabilize the contents when the backpack is not fully packed.

Care instructions

Empty the backpack completely and brush or shake off any loose dirt. If necessary, wash it by hand in lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Do not use chlorine or harsh detergents, as they may damage the protective coating of the material.

Rinse thoroughly and hang the backpack to dry upside down. Regularly check seams, straps, buckles and equipment attachments.

Important information about avalanche safety

The backpack is not an avalanche airbag. Avalanche transmitters should be worn correctly on the body and not stored in the backpack. Shovel and probe are not included.

Wearing avalanche equipment does not replace education, training, avalanche forecasts and a well-thought-out route choice.
