The Ortovox Bivy Double is a robust bivy bag for two people, developed for mountaineering, mountaineering, climbing and other activities in exposed mountain environments. It provides quick protection against wind, moisture and dirt when you need to make a planned bivouac or are forced to stay out due to an accident, delay or unexpected weather change.

The bivy sack weighs approximately 420 grams and is made of durable 70D polyester ripstop. The bright orange signal color increases visibility, while the solid and compressible storage bag with roll closure keeps the pack volume down.

Bivouac bag for two people

The Bivy Double can accommodate two people, allowing for sharing body heat in an emergency. The larger format also provides extra space for a single user along with warm clothing, sleeping bag or other equipment.

The model is well suited for hiking companions who want to carry a shared bivouac shelter instead of each carrying a separate bivouac bag.

Robust construction for demanding tours

The durable ripstop fabric is adapted for use in mountain and alpine environments. The ripstop construction helps limit minor tears and makes the Bivy Double more durable than Ortovox's most minimalist emergency bivy bags.

It is a good choice when durability and space for two people are prioritized over the absolute lowest possible weight.

Windproof and water-repellent

The material is windproof and has a PU coating that makes the bivy bag water and dirt repellent. The wind protection helps limit rapid cooling when you need to stay in an exposed location.

The PU coating provides protection against ground moisture, snow and light precipitation. However, the bivouac bag is not intended to replace a tent or complete overnight system during prolonged rain and demanding weather conditions.

Signal color for increased visibility

The Shocking Orange color creates a clear contrast against snow, rock, and vegetation, which can make users easier to spot by rescue workers or other people during a search.

The bivy bag can also be spread out and used as a visible marker if you need to attract attention.

Compressible storage bag

The included storage bag is attached to the bivy bag and therefore cannot be lost as easily. The bag has a roll closure and can be compressed to take up less space in the backpack.

Weighing approximately 420 grams, the Bivy Double is a relatively light shared bivy shelter for two people.

Use in an emergency situation

If possible, get to a place that is protected from wind, avalanches, landslides and running water. Insulate your bodies from cold or wet ground with sleeping pads, backpacks, ropes or dry clothes before crawling into your bivouac.

Keep warm and dry clothes on and use the shared body heat. Always make sure that faces and airways are clear and that there is sufficient ventilation. Call the emergency services as early as possible if the situation requires assistance.

Practice unfolding and packing your bivy bag before your trip. This will make it easier to use quickly in cold, dark or stressful conditions.

Storage and control

Allow the bivy bag to dry completely after use. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, chemicals and sharp objects. Regularly check the fabric, seams and PU coating. Repair or replace the bivy bag if damage could impair protection.
