What is the size of the Crispi EVO NTN?

Crispi EVO NTN should fit more tightly and precisely than a regular winter boot. The heel needs to be kept stable when the boot is flexed, while the forefoot must not be exposed to painful pressure.

User experience suggests that EVO often fits feet with normal to slightly larger volume over the forefoot and ankle. The heel area, however, may feel roomy for those with very narrow heels. The fit compared to, for example, Scarpa varies between different foot shapes and should therefore not be used as a safe size conversion.

Don't automatically choose a larger size because the boot feels tight when new. The thermoformable liner adapts to the foot and packs down slightly after use. The shell, however, does not become longer.

Crispis Mondopoint and foot length

Crispi's size chart generally takes height into account for approximately 0.5 cm of toe space. Therefore, the recommended foot length may be shorter than the boot's stated Mondopoint size.

Example: Mondopoint 27.5 is recommended in the table for a foot of approximately 27.0 cm. Do not automatically add another 0.5-1 cm if you are going to use a normal ski sock.

How to measure your foot

  1. Put on the ski sock you are going to use.
  2. Place a piece of paper on the floor against a wall.
  3. Place your heel against the wall and put weight on your foot while standing.
  4. Mark in front of the longest toe.
  5. Measure from the edge of the paper to the mark.
  6. Measure both feet and use the longer one.
  7. Compare the measurement with the recommended foot length column.

Please also measure the width of your foot and note whether you have a high instep or a narrow heel. These measurements can affect the fit just as much as the length.

If you are between two sizes

It is best to try both sizes or contact a ski boot specialist. The smaller size may provide better precision for an experienced skier, but requires that the shell is the right length and shape for the foot.

The larger size may be more suitable if you:

  • is clearly above the foot measurement for the smaller size
  • have a wide forefoot or high ankle
  • makes toe contact even in active skiing position
  • need a custom footbed that takes up more space

Don't go up a size just to solve local pressure over a bunion or around the ankle. Such problems can often be better addressed through thermoforming, footbeds, or professional boot fitting.

Check that the fit is correct

Buckle your boots as if you were skiing and assume an active position with your knees bent. Then:

  • the heel lies stable in the heel pocket
  • the foot does not slide forward when the ski boot is flexed
  • the toes can move without being pressed tightly against the shell
  • the forefoot is held in place without numbness
  • the ankle should not be exposed to sharp or burning pressure
  • the crease over the forefoot should be close to the natural bending point of the foot

The toes can touch the inner shoe lightly when you stand completely upright, but should normally be pulled back when you bend your knees and put pressure on the tongue.

Thermoforming of the inner shoe

Crispi EVO NTN has a thermoformable Dynamic Liner. Proper heat shaping can improve heel grip, reduce point pressure and adapt the liner to the shape of the foot.

Thermoforming should ideally be done by a shop or ski boot specialist. It can fine-tune the fit but does not compensate for a shell that is too short or the wrong size.

Choosing a ski sock

Use a thin or medium-thick technical ski sock for both measuring and testing. A very thick sock can reduce accuracy, create pressure and restrict blood circulation.

Avoid choosing a larger boot to accommodate double socks. A properly fitted liner and footbed will usually provide better comfort and control.

Binding compatibility

Crispi EVO NTN is compatible with:

  • NTN telemark bindings
  • compatible Low Tech systems for top touring

The boot is not intended for 75 mm, NNN BC, standard NNN, Prolink, Turnamic or SNS bindings.

NTN bindings come in a variety of sizes, so make sure the binding size and setup is compatible with your chosen boot. Low Tech inserts do not automatically mean they are compatible with all pin bindings—always follow the binding manufacturer's compatibility list.
