The Classic 18 is a large capacity running backpack designed for use over long distances and challenging terrain. Combining lightweight design with durable construction and innovative features, the Classic 18 is as at home on a short-haul flight as it is on the mountain, but to truly see it in its natural habitat, look no further than a Mountain Marathon start line.

First developed in 1974 to the specifications of Olympic champion and later London Marathon founder, Sir Chris Brasher, The Classic was the first backpack to consider weight as an important part of a backpack's functionality.

Now in its latest version, the Classic balances weight, accessibility on the move, comfort (at all speeds) and multi-functional components.

This is the backpack that always works. Perfect for an OMM but also at home on something lighter like MDS, UTMB, Spine Race, Dragons Back, Grand2Grand, 4 Deserts, Fire & Ice Ultra, Everest, Camino or just for everyday or home outings.

It just does everything really well. It's a classic.

Designed for both 450km solo expeditions and daily training. The Classic range comes with a variety of attachment points depending on the kit you need. Add the Chest Pod and front bottle cage for multi-day ultra racing. Or for winter climbing; ice axes or poles can be attached to the gear loop if needed. Remove the Duomat back protector and waist belt for a super lightweight dash bag.

Geometrically built for stability when running in the mountains. The Classic has a carrying system with closed-cell EVA padded shoulder straps, specially designed without side seams to allow the pack to follow the natural contours of the body. The waist belt can be used to shift weight onto the hips with heavier loads or removed for a faster, lighter shoulder carry. The classic back padding is the removable EVA Duomat, which doubles as a 3/4 sleeping pad

Take advantage of the versatile stretch mesh pockets on the Classic. There you can store your rig, food or water. Or this means easy-access stretch side pockets that easily hold two bottles each at the back for dirty trainers after a run or anything else that can withstand a little weather. The lid strap can be moved to attach to the top of the pocket for even more stretch volume. At the front, the waist belt pockets have a total capacity of 2 liters and key clips and space for your phone.
