the OMM Classic 18 is a lightweight, stable and versatile 18-litre backpack , developed for mountain running, ultra-running and mountain marathons . The first version of the Classic pack was developed back in 1973 to specifications from Sir Chris Brasher , and became the first backpack where light weight was seen as a central feature . Today's Classic 18 is a modern and more compact version of the original, adapted for smaller body types or for those who want to carry minimal luggage .

The Classic 18 is built to simply function in the mountains . The design balances light weight, stability on the run, quick access to gear and high comfort at all speeds . Geometrically shaped to stay stable on hilly terrain, the pack is equally at home on The OMM as it is on other demanding races and adventures such as UTMB, MDS, Spine Race, Dragon's Back and Grand2Grand , but also works great for day training and lighter tours .

The carrying system consists of an EVA padded shoulder harness without side seams , which means that the backpack follows the natural contours of the body and reduces the risk of chafing. The removable hip belt can be used to shift weight to the hips for heavier loads or removed completely for a faster and lighter race setup . The Duomat padding on the back is also removable and can be used as a short sleeping pad during mountain marathons , or removed to reduce weight further.

The Classic 18 also stands out with its generous stretch mesh pockets . The side pockets easily hold two bottles per side , while the large rear mesh pocket is great for quick access to extra clothes or wet shoes. At the front are two zippered hip belt pockets (totaling about 2 liters ) and key clips, perfect for your phone, compass and energy. The lid also has zippered pockets, and UGR (Universal Gear Rail) mounts allow you to mount additional equipment such as a Chest Pod, bottle cage, ice axes or poles as needed.
