Hestra Windshield Liner is a flexible five-finger glove with a windproof top, grippy palm and touch function on the index finger and thumb. It can be used independently for running, hiking and outdoor activities or as an extra layer under a roomier outer glove.

The size should be chosen according to the hand. The Windshield Liner is a stand-alone liner and does not need to be the same size as the outer glove.

Size chart

Hestra size
Hand circumference
6
approximately 152 mm
7
approximately 178 mm
8
approximately 203 mm
9
approximately 229 mm
10
approximately 254 mm
11
approximately 279 mm

The measurements are approximate. Measure both hands and choose the size based on the larger hand.

How to measure your hand

  1. Measure around the widest part of your hand, just below the knuckles.
  2. Don't include your thumb in the measurement.
  3. Keep your hand relaxed and do not tighten the measuring tape.
  4. Compare the result with the table above.

If you don't have a soft tape measure, you can use a string and then measure the length of the string with a ruler.

How should the Windshield Liner be placed?

The glove should follow the shape of the hand without feeling tight. The material should lie smoothly over the palm and fingers so that the grip pressure makes proper contact with rods, tools and other equipment.

The fingertips should reach into the glove without being pressed against the seams. The touch surfaces of the index finger and thumb need to be over the fingertips to function as well as possible.

The right fit means that:

  • the material lies smoothly over the hand
  • the fingertips are not pressed against the seams
  • the glove does not pull between the fingers
  • you can open and close your hand without hindrance
  • the grip pressure lies firmly against the palm of the hand
  • The cuff fits comfortably around the wrist.
  • the touch surfaces fall right on the index finger and thumb

If you are between two sizes

Normally, choose the larger size if your hand measurement is between two sizes. A glove that is too small can be tight between the fingers, restricting mobility and causing the touch surfaces to be misaligned.

Don't choose a smaller size just to get a tighter grip. The palm should be close to the hand, but the fit shouldn't restrict circulation.

If the larger size causes obvious creases in the palm or too long fingers, you should try both sizes before deciding.

If the glove is used stand-alone

When running, hiking or other activities, the fit should be relatively close to the body. Too much loose material can impair grip and make it more difficult to handle phones, GPS, zippers and other equipment.

Check the fit by gripping a pole handle or similar object. The glove should follow the hand without slipping or forming any significant creases in the palm.

If the glove is used as an inner layer

Always try the Windshield Liner together with the intended outer glove:

  1. Apply the Windshield Liner and smooth the material over your fingers.
  2. Insert your hand into the outer glove without pulling the liner back.
  3. Open and close your hand several times.
  4. Make sure that the fingertips are not pressed forward.
  5. Ensure that circulation and grip are not restricted.

The outer glove must have enough volume for both layers. If it already fits close to the hand without a liner, the combination may be too tight.

Same size as the outer glove?

Your regular Hestra size is a good starting point, but the size numbers don't always have to be identical. The Windshield Liner does not attach to the outer glove and is not a form-fitting replacement liner.

Choose the size of the liner according to your hand measurements and then check that the entire combination fits in the outer glove.

Check the correct type of liner

The model:

  • used directly on the hand
  • lacks Velcro fastening for the outer glove
  • can be used standalone
  • can be used under a roomier shell or winter glove

Wind and weather protection

The Windshield Liner has a windproof top, but the glove is not waterproof. In rain, sleet or prolonged wetness, it needs to be combined with a protective shell glove.
