The Exped Lightning 60 is an ultra-light and technically advanced hiking backpack , developed for multi-day trips and trekking where low weight, good ventilation and stable carrying comfort are crucial . With a packing volume of 60 liters , the backpack can accommodate equipment for longer trips, while maintaining a streamlined and functional design.

The backpack is unisex with precisely adjustable back length to fit different body types and back lengths.

T-Rex carrier system – stability and ventilation

The Lightning 60 is equipped with Exped's innovative T-Rex back system , which is based on an adjustable aluminum pole (6061-T6) with minimal contact points with the back. The result is efficient airflow, good freedom of movement and even weight transfer to the hip belt , even with heavier packs. The back length can be finely adjusted for the correct fit, providing stable comfort during long days on the trail.

Flexible packing and reliable load control

The backpack is top-loaded with a roll closure , which provides quick access and flexible volume adjustment depending on the amount of packing. An effective zig-zag compression system around the entire bag makes it easy to compress the load or attach larger items such as a sleeping pad or tent.

For storage, there are stretchy side pockets , a large stretch pocket at the front , zippered pockets on the hip belt , and an interior zippered pocket for valuables or a map. Multiple external attachment points make the Lightning 60 well suited for trekking poles, ice axes, and other specialized equipment.

Durable materials – low weight

The Lightning 60 is made from ultra-lightweight HMPE ripstop nylon with a reinforced recycled polyester base , providing high durability without unnecessary weight gain. The materials are bluesign® approved , partially recycled and PFAS-free , in line with Exped's sustainability work.
