The Exped Tarp II Versa is a robust and versatile tarp for basecamp, camping, bushcraft and longer outdoor trips. The generous 350 x 290 centimeter surface can be used as a rain and sun shelter, an extended roof in front of the tent or as a simple A-frame shelter for overnight stays.
The tarp is made of durable 75D taffeta polyester with PU coating, taped seams and a 3,000 mm water column. The material is stronger than EXPED's lightest tarps and can also be used as a base in an apse or at a rest area.
The Tarp II Versa covers over ten square meters when fully extended. The size provides ample protection for sleeping gear, a cooking area, bikes or a small group at rest and base camp.
Set up as an A-frame shelter, the tarp provides a protected area of approximately 350 × 210 centimeters. Height, width and wind protection can be adjusted by changing the angle of the sides.
Pre-assembled storm ropes, multiple attachment points and reinforced corners allow the tarp to be adapted to the location and weather. It can be stretched between trees or set up with hiking poles, separate tarp poles or suitable branches.
Exped Tarp II Versa can be used as:
A-frame shelter for overnight stays
Rain and sun protection at base camp
Extended roof in front of tent, car or wind shelter
Slanted protection against wind and precipitation
Sheltered cooking and resting area
Groundsheet in the vestibule of the tent
Temporary shelter for bicycles and other equipment
The Versa version is made for users who prioritize durability and flexibility over the lowest possible weight. The heavy-duty polyester fabric is less sensitive to UV radiation than thinner nylon materials and stretches relatively little when wet.
The durability of the material means that the tarp can also be used as a ground cover. However, be sure to remove sharp stones, branches and other objects that could damage the fabric or PU coating.
The inside has a PU coating and the seams are taped to prevent water from penetrating at the stitching points. The material has a water column of 3,000 millimeters and provides reliable protection when the canvas is correctly set up and tensioned.
In the event of rain, the tarp should be installed with sufficient slope to allow water to drain off. Avoid flat areas where water can collect and stress the material and attachment points.
The Tarp II Versa comes with strong and lightweight Dyneema storm ropes. The attachment points allow you to distribute the load and shape the tarp according to terrain and wind direction.
Place the lowest and most closed side towards the wind. In stronger winds, more attachment points should be used and the storm ropes should be checked regularly.

Exped Versa is the most robust and easy-care variant. The polyester fabric is durable, less sensitive to UV radiation and can be used as a ground cover. The disadvantage is higher weight and larger packing volume.
The Extreme variants use heavy-duty silicone-coated nylon and provide high durability with lower weight. The UL models are made of significantly thinner material for tours where weight and packing volume are top priorities.
