It is designed for two people, but also works perfectly as a very spacious solo tent for those who want extra comfort at a low weight.
Niak builds on Hilleberg's concept of lightweight yet strong Yellow Label tents. The flysheet is made from Kerlon 1000 , Hilleberg's lightest flysheet fabric, and the tent uses 9mm DAC NSL poles to provide a very good combination of low weight and stability. The simple two-pole dome construction makes the tent quick to set up and stable in varying three-season conditions.
The tent's dimensions allow it to accommodate two people, but since the Niak has an opening and a vestibule along the long side, it is slightly simpler than Hilleberg's more comfort-oriented two-person models. This makes the tent particularly suitable for an adult and a child , a person and a dog , or for a solo adventurer who wants plenty of space.
Niak is designed for summer trips, warm weather and three-season use . Ventilation is built into the construction, and the inner tent mesh sections have no fabric gaps. The single vestibule can be rolled up to maximize airflow through the inner tent mesh door. Ventilation openings along the bottom edge of the flysheet contribute to constant airflow and help the flysheet stretch correctly for optimal performance.

Hilleberg Niak has a simple and stable dome construction with two poles. The tent is largely freestanding, with only the vestibule needing to be attached with ground pegs. This makes Niak easy to use on a variety of surfaces and easy to place in tight tent pitches.
