The Nordisk Knuth -20° Mummy Sleeping Bag is a warm, mummy-shaped synthetic sleeping bag for winter camping, ski touring and other adventures in really cold weather. The recycled NorGuard S-PO 85® insulation is combined with an adjustable 3D hood, thermal collar and body-hugging fit to reduce unnecessary heat loss.
The sleeping bag has a comfort temperature of −10 °C and a limit temperature of −20 °C. This makes Knuth a robust alternative for cold winter trips where warmth and moisture-resistant synthetic insulation are prioritized over the lowest possible weight and packing volume.
The product name's −20 °C refers to the sleeping bag's stated limit temperature and should not be interpreted as a comfort temperature for all users.
Comfort temperature: −10 °C – the temperature most relevant for those who easily freeze.
Limit temperature: −20 °C – the lower temperature limit that Nordisk specifies for the sleeping bag.
Extreme temperature: −40°C – a safety limit for survival, not a temperature for normal or comfortable use.
The perceived warmth is affected by, among other things, the R-value of the sleeping pad, clothing, wind, humidity, tent, food intake and individual cold tolerance. When used in winter, the sleeping bag always needs to be combined with a well-insulating sleeping pad.
Knuth -20° is filled with NorGuard S-PO 85® made from 100 percent recycled polyester. The insulation is built up in several layers and provides a fill weight of 1,600–1,800 grams depending on size.
Synthetic fill generally retains more of its insulation in damp conditions than untreated down and is easier to dry during longer winter trips, making the construction well suited to variable winter weather and use over several consecutive nights.
The outer fabric is made of durable 20D ripstop nylon made from recycled polyamide. Both the fabric and filling are recycled, and the construction is made without intentionally added PFAS.
The 3D shaped hood can be adjusted around the head to reduce the open area and retain more heat, while an internal thermal collar helps to limit air circulation between the body part of the sleeping bag and the opening at the shoulders.
Knuth also has a separate zipper at the shoulder. This allows you to free your arms while keeping your torso and head protected in the sleeping bag – handy if you need to organize your equipment or cook breakfast from your sleeping spot.
The Sharkfin shaped foot box provides more space for the feet without the need to make the entire sleeping bag wider. The construction helps maintain an effective mummy fit while allowing the feet to lie in a more natural position.
A separate zipper at the footbox can be opened for ventilation. Together with the two-way side zipper, it makes it easier to regulate the temperature when the weather changes or when the sleeping bag is used on milder nights.
Knuth -20° is available in Medium, Large and X Large. Choose a size that provides sufficient length without unnecessary void space, as a sleeping bag that is too long or wide requires more body heat to warm up.

Air out your sleeping bag after each use and allow it to dry completely before storing. Always follow the washing instructions on the product label and use a detergent suitable for synthetic sleeping bags. Avoid fabric softener.
The compression bag is intended for transport. For longer storage, the sleeping bag should be stored loosely in a large storage bag or hung in a dry and airy place. Prolonged storage in a tightly compressed state can reduce the loft of the insulation.
