The Montane Valen 40+5L is a lightweight alpine backpack for climbing and mountaineering. Weighing in at around 730 grams, it combines generous packing volume with a streamlined design and attachments for technical equipment.
The backpack is suitable for those who prioritize low weight, close-to-the-body carrying and the ability to adapt the pack for longer days or multi-day trips in the mountains.
The main compartment holds 40 liters and has an internal expandable section that provides an additional 5 liters of packing space. The roll closure and compression straps make it possible to adapt the backpack to the amount of equipment.
An external zippered pocket provides quick access to small items. The additional, removable zippered pocket can be placed at the hip belt or inside, allowing you to organize accessories according to how you use the backpack.
Buckles and components are designed to be handled with gloves.
The molded back panel and carrying system are complemented by a pre-bent aluminum strut that provides support and helps keep the load close to the body. A padded hip belt contributes to carrying comfort.
The backpack's continuous strap construction provides compression around the pack. Together with the side compression straps, it helps stabilize the contents during movement.
The back panel is also designed to prevent snow from accumulating on the surface.
The main material RAPTOR Grid combines recycled nylon with UHMWPE, a strong polyethylene fiber that reinforces the ripstop structure without adding much weight. The material also has a water-repellent finish.
Attachment points for ice axes, ropes and other equipment make it possible to carry parts of the pack on the outside of the backpack and free up space in the main compartment.
