The VJ Fuzion Tempo is a technical road-to-trail shoe designed for runners who want to be able to run fast over a variety of surfaces. It's perfect for when your run starts on asphalt, continues over gravel, and ends on a trail—without the need to change shoes.

The Tempo is the faster and more responsive model in the VJ Fuzion series. It's built for hard training sessions, all-surface racing and mixed terrain where efficiency, speed and grip need to work together. The shoe provides a direct and responsive feel on asphalt, while still having enough protection and stability for easier trail sections.

The midsole is made of SuperFOAMance+ , VJ's advanced nitrogen-infused supercritical foam. The material provides high energy return, bounce and response, making the shoe particularly suitable for faster distances, intervals, tempo runs and competitions on varied terrain.

The midsole features a full-length, branched rock plate that provides protection against uneven surfaces, increased torsional rigidity, and more efficient push-off. This makes the shoe feel stable when you leave the asphalt and run on gravel, rocks, roots, or hard-packed trails.

The outsole is made of lightweight rubber and has 3mm studs . This provides good grip on off-road surfaces without the shoe feeling clumsy on asphalt. The result is a versatile running shoe that works great when you want to keep up the pace on both the road and trail.

The multizone engineered mesh upper is lightweight, breathable and quick-drying. Together with the VJ Fitlock system and a soft anti-slip heel, the foot is kept firmly in place even when the pace increases or the surface becomes more technical.

The VJ Fuzion Tempo is a perfect choice for runners who want a light, fast and protective shoe for mixed running – from asphalt to trail.

VJ foot lengths correspond to a race-like fit with only a couple of millimeters of extra space in front of the toes. Choose the next size up if you want more toe room.

How is the VJ Fuzion Tempo sized?

VJ states that the Fuzion Tempo fits most people in their usual size. The model has a width of 4 out of 5 on the VJ fit scale, which means it is on the roomier side, especially over the forefoot.

The Fitlock system hugs the midfoot while the heel construction helps to lock the foot in place, resulting in a roomier toe box without the entire shoe feeling loose.

User size perception

Initial user reviews describe, among other things, plenty of space in the forefoot and a stable grip around the heel. Since the model is still relatively new, there is still limited evidence for a broad user consensus, but the reviews are in line with VJ's official width classification.

Our size recommendation

  • Choose your regular running shoe size if you want a close, race-oriented fit.
  • If you are between two sizes, you should choose the larger one.
  • Choose the next size up if you want extra toe room for long runs or if your feet tend to swell while running.
  • If you have narrow feet, the Fitlock lacing can help fix the midfoot, but make sure the forefoot doesn't feel too roomy.
  • Start primarily from the foot length in centimeters, not just from the size you usually use in other brands.

How to measure your foot

  1. Place a piece of paper against a wall and put on the socks you plan to run in.
  2. Place your heel against the wall with your entire body weight on your foot.
  3. Mark in front of the longest toe.
  4. Measure the distance from the edge of the paper to the mark.
  5. Measure both feet and start from the longest one.
  6. Compare the measurement with the chart. Choose the larger size if you are between two measurements.

Check the fit

When the shoe is laced, the heel should sit firmly and the midfoot should feel locked in without any uncomfortable pressure. The toes should be able to move freely and should not hit the front of the shoe when you run downhill. It is best to try the shoes on later in the day, when feet are usually a little bigger.
