How is the Altra Olympus 6 Women sized?

Part of the shoe
Perceived fit
Length
Normal to slightly short
Toe box
Very spacious
Metatarsal
Relatively spacious
Heel
Well padded and enveloping
Narrow feet
Can feel voluminous at the front

User opinions are not entirely uniform. Some find the Olympus 6 to be true to size, while a larger compilation of user opinions leans towards it feeling about half a size small. The spacious toe box can make the shoe feel large at first, despite the limited length.

The soft padding around the heel and Achilles tendon can also push the foot forward slightly for some users, causing the toes to come closer to the front of the shoe, especially on downhill slopes.

Our size recommendation

Choose your regular Altra size if your measurement is clearly within the size range and you have enough room in front of your toes.

Choose a half US size larger if you:

  • is between two sizes
  • falls in the upper part of the measurement range
  • usually strikes with the toes in front
  • should use the shoe on long runs or in a lot of downhill running
  • want room for swollen feet or thicker socks

Don't go down a size just because the toe box feels wide. First, check that the length is sufficient and, if necessary, use heel locks in the lacing for better stability.

If you are switching from the Altra Olympus 275 Women, you should not automatically choose the same size. The Olympus 6 is more often experienced as shorter, while the Olympus 275 is generally described as normal to slightly roomy.

How to measure your foot

  1. Measure both feet standing, preferably at the end of the day.
  2. Measure from the backmost point of the heel to the longest toe.
  3. Start from the longest foot.
  4. Add 0.5 cm and compare the result with the table.
  5. If you are between two sizes, you normally choose the larger size.

Try the shoe on with the socks you plan to wear. The heel should be stable while the toes should be able to move freely without touching the front edge, even when the foot is under load or angled downhill.
