The VJ Sarva Ultrawinter is a studded winter running shoe for snowy roads, icy walkways and winter trails. It combines a waterproof upper with generous cushioning and a roomy fit for those who want to keep running when the temperature drops.
The model is suitable for both running and active winter walks. The SuperFOAMance+ midsole provides a soft and responsive feel, while the metal studs help you get a grip on slippery surfaces.
The outsole has 17 metal studs per shoe that complement the rubber sole pattern. The combination is developed for winter road conditions where the surface can alternate between packed snow, ice and gravel.
The rubber studs are 4.5 mm deep and contribute to grip on snowy roads and trails. Ultrawinter is therefore suitable for those looking for a running shoe with studs for varied winter runs.
SuperFOAMance+ in the midsole provides shock absorption and energy return in the step. The high sole makes the model an option for those who appreciate a lot of cushioning during both shorter sessions and longer tours.
The sole height is 44 mm under the heel and 36 mm under the forefoot, which gives a drop of 8 mm.
The waterproof upper helps keep moisture out when running in slush and on wet winter roads. An integrated gaiter around the shoe opening also helps prevent snow from entering from above.

For winter running and walking
Ultrawinter has a medium to wide last, corresponding to a 4 on the VJ fit scale of 1–5. It is suitable for those who want a roomier feel around the foot.
Try on the socks you plan to use during the winter. The toes should have room to move while the heel is secure. Choose a size based on foot length and fit, with room for the foot to swell during longer sessions.

The table follows VJ's general size guide. The centimeter measurements refer to foot length.
VJ states that the chart provides a close race fit with only a few millimeters of space in front of the toes. If you want more room, VJ recommends a larger size.
For Ultrawinter, you should therefore check the fit with your winter socks. The toes should be able to move even when the shoe is properly laced.
VJ recommends the larger size when the foot measurement falls between two values in the table.
Try two adjacent sizes if you want extra toe room. Also, make sure the larger shoe holds your heel and midfoot in place without having to tighten the laces too much.
A thicker sock will take up space both around the toes and over the ankle. Therefore, use the same sock thickness during testing as during your winter workouts.
If you have your own posts, these should also be in place when you assess the size.
The right size means that:
If the length feels right but the shoe is pushing from the sides, you also need to assess the width. A larger size will only help if heel grip and stability still work.
