Nikwax Rug Wash™ is a professional technical detergent specifically developed for horse rugs, blankets and rugs . This 25 litre can is perfect for stables, riding schools, laundries and professional use where large volumes are required.
Unlike regular detergents, Rug Wash cleans effectively without damaging the material's water-repellent properties or breathability . The result is cleaner rugs that keep the horse drier, warmer and more comfortable .
Regular cleaning agents leave residues that impair insulation and water repellency. Nikwax Rug Wash is water-based and specially formulated for technical materials.

Proper care of horse blankets extends their lifespan, preserves warmth and waterproofness, and keeps your horse dry and comfortable.
Brush off dirt, hair and mud before washing. Wash duvets as needed – not more often than necessary – to avoid unnecessary wear.
Use a detergent specially formulated for horse blankets , never regular powder detergent or fabric softener. Regular detergents can impair the blanket's waterproofness and breathability.
Wash one duvet at a time
Always follow the washing instructions on the duvet.
Use a washing machine large enough to allow the blanket to move freely.
Rinse thoroughly
After washing, the blanket may need to be impregnated to regain full water repellency, especially if used outdoors in rain and snow.
Let the blanket air dry or use a tumble dryer on low heat if the manufacturer allows it. Avoid high heat which can damage the material and seams.
Store duvets clean, dry and ventilated , preferably in duvet bags. Avoid damp spaces to reduce the risk of mold and odor.
