The OMM Fell Shoe is a purpose-built mountain and trail running shoe , developed from over 55 years of experience in British mountain running . In collaboration with grip specialists Vibram , OMM has created a shoe that is built to inspire complete confidence in the most demanding terrain – where grip, stability and control are absolutely crucial.

This is a shoe for mud, bog, wet rock, steep slopes and technical terrain – both on and far beyond the trail.

Super aggressive sole for extreme grip

The heart of the OMM Fell Shoe is the specially designed Vibram outsole , developed specifically for fell running and mountain environments. The sole combines three advanced Vibram technologies for maximum grip and low weight.

Vibram Traction Lugs

Studs on studs. Vibram Traction Lugs increase the contact area by up to 50% , providing superior grip during both acceleration and braking on loose and wet terrain.

Vibram Megagrip

A high-performance rubber compound that provides exceptional grip on both wet and dry surfaces , while maintaining durability during long and tough sessions.

Vibram Litebase

By reducing the sole thickness by 50%, the sole weight is reduced by up to 30% , without compromising grip or durability. The result is a light, fast and precise shoe.

Advanced sole pattern & Wave technology

OMM has developed an asymmetrical and staggered stud pattern , where no studs are in a straight line through the sole. This means that the grip is always active, regardless of the direction of movement.

With OMM's Wave technology, the sole is shaped into a wave profile that:

The OMM Fell Shoe is a unisex running shoe with a precise and stable fit for soft, steep and technical terrain. The shoe uses UK sizes and is available from UK 4 to UK 12 in half size increments.

Use the foot length in centimeters as a starting point. The size markings between UK, EU and US may differ from other shoe brands.

How is the OMM Fell Shoe sized?

OMM lists the shoe as Regular Width , but the construction is performance-oriented and provides a precise grip around the heel and midfoot. The X-Lock lacing keeps the foot and tongue in place, which is especially important on steep descents and inclines.

The fit perception varies somewhat. Some runners find the shoe to be normal in length, while others find it short and choose a half size larger. The forefoot is not extremely narrow, but the shoe is not designed as a wide model either.

Our size recommendation

First of all, choose your size according to OMM's recommended foot length.

  • If your foot measurement is in the middle of a specified value, start with the corresponding size.
  • If you are between two sizes, we normally recommend the larger size.
  • Choose a half size larger if you have a wide forefoot, use thicker socks or want extra room for longer sessions.
  • If you have narrow feet and want maximum precision on steep and technical surfaces, the size according to the table may be best.
  • Don't go down a size to get better heel grip. First adjust the X-Lock lacing.
  • Your toes should never hit the leading edge when you run downhill.

How much margin is needed?

For technical misrunning, the shoe should fit more securely than a roomy ultra shoe, but you still need room in front of your toes. Aim for about 5–10 mm of space between your longest toe and the front edge of the shoe.

A shorter stride length provides more precision, while more room can be more comfortable during longer runs when feet swell. The shoe is too small if the toes reach the front edge when running downhill or if the upper creates pressure over the forefoot.

How to measure your foot

Measure your feet in the afternoon or evening when they are usually at their largest.

  1. Put on the running socks you plan to use.
  2. Place a piece of paper against a wall.
  3. Place your heel lightly against the wall with your entire body weight on your foot.
  4. Mark in front of the longest toe.
  5. Measure the distance from the edge of the paper to the mark.
  6. Repeat with the other foot.
  7. Choose size according to the longest foot.

Do not automatically add extra centimeters before using the table – the OMM line indicates the recommended foot length for each size.

Check the fit

Try on both shoes with your regular running socks. Lace them up properly and check that:

  • the heel sits stable without lifting
  • The metatarsal is held in place without painful pressure
  • toes can move easily
  • there is about 5–10 mm of space in front of the longest toe
  • your foot doesn't slide forward when you're standing on a downhill slope
  • the toes do not hit the front edge of the shoe
  • the forefoot is not compressed from the sides
  • The lacing keeps the tongue in place without pressure points.

A correct size should provide a secure and precise foothold on uneven surfaces, while also giving the toes enough room for longer runs and steep downhill runs.
