After 55 years at the heart of British mountain running, OMM has teamed up with grip experts Vibram to create our first shoe – the Fell Shoe. A purpose-built mountain running shoe worthy of OMM’s mountain heritage and reputation for innovation.
OMM wanted to create a shoe that inspires confidence in the mountains. A shoe you can’t run away from. A shoe that has grip where it matters most – in mud, bog and rough mountain terrain – whether you’re on the trail or far beyond.
To achieve this, OMM teamed up with the best – Vibram. Combining a trio of Vibram’s groundbreaking grip technologies with OMM’s mountain running expertise, OMM has created a super-aggressive sole and a specially designed lug pattern. This has a stud depth of between 8-11mm for maximum grip in mud, bog and rock, while a 4mm drop and 272g weight make it light, agile and precise on technical terrain. Whether you're climbing a wet slope, crossing sheep tracks or plunging down in weather that would put most races on hold, the OMM Fell Shoe is up to the task.

SOLE PATTERN
Made specifically for British fell landscapes using OMM's extensive mountaineering experience, the Fell Shoe features a specially designed stud pattern
that provides immense grip when climbing, descending, contouring or braking. OMM have also staggered all the studs
so that there is no line of sight through the sole. This means that all the studs are always in the same position, providing maximum grip.

VIBRAM TRACTION STUDS
Add studs to the studs. Studs on studs if you will. Vibram say these studs give 50% more surface area to the studs, improving grip and traction. We think this makes perfect sense. When the studs are pressed into the ground, the smaller studs capture areas that resist slipping and improve propulsion and braking power.

VIBRAM LITEBASE
Vibram Litebase is the rubber base of the shoe. Lightness is fundamental to saving energy and improving performance: Vibram Litebase reduces 30% of the total sole weight by reducing the thickness of the sole by 50%, while maintaining Vibram quality in grip, traction and durability.

VIBRAM MEGAGRIP
Vibram Megagrip is a high-performance rubber compound that offers unrivaled grip properties on both dry and wet terrain. Extremely durable, it gives you confidence and control, while maintaining an optimal balance between stability and flexibility for ground adaptation.

WAVE TECHNOLOGY
By using both a Vibram outsole and midsole, we can form a wave shape in the sole of the shoe. This provides several advantages; For starters, Wave technology reduces the internal compression of the midsole, which means less movement inside the shoe and less risk of hot spots and blisters. It also spreads energy along the length of the foot, flattening the foot and providing support as you move through the gait cycle. As your foot flexes, Wave technology reduces shear forces between the layers of the shoe, extending their lifespan. Finally, by adapting the studs to this wave, OMM achieves a variable stud depth across the sole – from 8mm up to over 11mm.

X-LOCK
An adjustable lacing pattern on the upper that reduces pressure points across the foot. This maintains tension, instills confidence underfoot and reduces chafing points. X-Lock also secures the tongue and keeps the foot secure on steep descents, meaning you don’t have to “cheesewire” your feet with tight laces.

ROCKPLATE
A small EVA plate is embedded between the midsole and outsole where you strike with your forefoot. This spreads the impact and provides protection underfoot from sharp rocks or uneven terrain.

PROTECTIVE UPPER
The durable ripstop nylon mesh upper is reinforced with TPU. TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) elements are located in key contact points to increase durability, not restrict flexibility, and increase the ability to withstand the toughest conditions. TPU has been added to a wide range of shoe components, toe box, eyelets and heel cups to provide protection from rocks, blackberries, heather and anything else the mountains throw at them.

INTERNAL SKELETON
Inside the shoe is a structural skeleton. The skeleton gives the shoes structure and extra protection to the foot at key contact points. It is located around the base of the shoe and extends up into the toe box, eyelets and heel cups.
