The Altra Olympus 275 HiLo for men is designed for runners who want to combine a lot of cushioning with stability, durability, and reliable grip on technical terrain. Altra classifies the model as a shoe for both technical trail running and all-day running.

The updated midsole is made of Altra EGO™ MAX , which Altra says is 15 percent lighter and 10 percent softer than the material in the previous version. The result is a softer feel underfoot without losing the model's stable and protective character.

The upper is made from a continuous woven MATRYX® material . The Olympus 275 platform uses Kevlar reinforcement and an integrated scree sleeve to help protect the foot and reduce the amount of grit and debris entering the shoe.

Underneath the shoe is Vibram® Megagrip with TractionLug™ . The combination is designed for grip and stability on varied surfaces, including both wet and dry rock, hard trails and technical mountain sections.

Updated Altra EGO™ MAX midsole

The Olympus 275 HiLo features an updated Altra EGO™ MAX midsole. Altra describes the material as both soft and durable, with some added responsiveness in the stride. The new version is said to be 15 percent lighter and 10 percent softer than the previous design.

The high cushioning is especially good when you want to reduce the perceived impact from rocks, roots and hard sections during long runs. The Olympus series is Altra's most cushioned trail family and is specifically positioned for long distance, ultra-running and backpacking.

33 mm stack height and 0 mm drop

The shoe has 33 mm of material under both the heel and forefoot , which gives a drop of 0 mm. This means that the heel and forefoot are at the same height in the shoe.

The wide, high platform provides plenty of underfoot protection, while Altra's Zero Drop construction places the foot in a consistent position from heel to toe. Runners who are new to 0mm drop shoes should get used to the model gradually, especially if they usually run in shoes with significantly higher drops.

Original FootShape™ – spacious toe box

The Olympus 275 HiLo uses the Original FootShape™ , Altra's roomiest fit. It provides plenty of room in the toe box and more room through the midfoot than the brand's Standard and Slim fits.

The spacious forefoot allows the toes to spread out more naturally and can be especially appreciated on long runs when feet get warm and swollen. However, the shoe is not automatically a traditional wide model; FootShape primarily describes the shape of the toe box and last.

MATRYX® upper with integrated debris protection

The seamless MATRYX® upper is designed to provide lightweight, durable, and protection for miles. Altra describes the Olympus 275 construction as a woven upper with Kevlar and an integrated scree sleeve.

The scree sleeve construction wraps around the foot area and helps keep out small rocks, sand and other loose material. It's especially useful on technical mountain trails, downhill runs and dry gravel trails.

Vibram® Megagrip with TractionLug™

The outsole is made of Vibram® Megagrip , a grippy rubber that Altra uses to create friction and control on both wet and dry surfaces.

The TractionLug™ construction complements the rubber with a stud design that is designed to contribute to better ground contact, grip and stability in technical terrain.

The shoe is particularly suitable for:

Mountain trail

Rocky trail

Roots and forest paths

Packed soil

Gravel road

Wet and dry rock outcrops

Mixed surfaces during ultra races

For ultra running and long workouts

The Olympus family is Altra's most cushioned trail shoe option and is recommended by the manufacturer for long distances, ultramarathons and activities where comfort needs to last for many hours.

The Olympus 275 HiLo is suitable for those looking for:

Plenty of cushioning without the traditional heel-to-toe drop

Underfoot protection on rocky terrain

Spacious toe box for long distances

Durable upper

Grips for technical trails

Stable feel during all-day workouts

A shoe for both ultra-running and long-distance hiking

How to measure your foot

Place a piece of paper on the floor next to a wall.

Stand on the paper with your heel lightly against the wall.

Mark the longest toe.

Measure both feet.

Start from the longest foot.

Add about 0.5 cm for space and compare with the table.

Altra recommends measuring both feet and adding approximately 0.5 cm before selecting a size.

For ultra running, you should also try the shoe on with the socks you intend to use and check that your toes do not hit the front edge during downhill running.
