The Altra Men's Lone Peak 9+ is generally normal in length but significantly roomier across the forefoot than many other trail shoes. The model uses Altra's Original FootShape with a wide, foot-shaped toe box that gives your toes plenty of room to move.

The Lone Peak 9+ is generally perceived as normal in size. A compilation of 96 user votes at RunRepeat indicates the model as normal in length. Several tests also describe it as slightly longer and roomier than some other Altra models.

First of all, choose your usual size in Altra. If you already use Lone Peak and are happy with the size, you can usually choose the same size in Lone Peak 9+.
If you are between two sizes, the area of use should determine the choice:
For trail running and hiking, there should be enough space in front of the toes so that they don't hit the front edge of the shoe on downhill slopes.
The heel and midfoot should be stable while the toes should be able to move freely. It is a good idea to try the shoes on an inclined surface and check that the foot does not slide forward. The toes should not hit the front edge when you walk or run downhill.
