The OMM Phantom 18 is a slim and highly stable VestPack backpack , developed specifically for adventure racing, ultra-marathons and multi-day events where high speed, minimal bounce and quick access to equipment are essential. It combines the capacity of a backpack with the accessibility of a running vest , making it ideal when regular stops are simply not an option.

At the heart of the Phantom 18 is OMM's unique Phantom Suspension System with 7-point harness , which connects the pack directly to the runner's spine via a narrow yoke harness behind the neck , instead of placing weight on the shoulders. This allows the shoulders to move freely , resulting in a more energy-efficient running style , especially over long distances. At the same time, weight transfer is managed stably and consistently around the spine.

To further reduce bounce and sway in technical terrain , shock-absorbing elastic cords are used over the shoulders in combination with a double V-shaped attachment around the waist . This creates a very stable Y-shaped structure that holds the pack tightly to the lower back. When the runner pushes off, the lower attachment point tightens, and when the step lands, the upper one tightens – effectively preventing the shoulder section from loosening or moving.

The Phantom 18 has a shorter back length , making it particularly suitable for smaller body types or shorter backs . The backpack was tested during development on the extremely demanding Tor des Géants (330 km) and has since been used by the OMM hill team in extreme conditions . It passed the test.

Unlike pure vests, the Phantom 18 offers 18 liters of storage space, enough for multi-day racing, ultra challenges and light fastpacking , while the front offers vest-like quick access to bottles, energy and small items. The CORDURA® nylon construction provides high durability without compromising on weight.

Clean regularly with lukewarm water to remove salt and dirt. Allow to air dry completely before storing.
