SiS BETA Fuel + Nootropics Lemon & Lime combines a large portion of carbohydrates with caffeine, amino acids and citicoline in a convenient gel format for endurance sports.
Each 60 ml serving contains:
40 g carbohydrates
200 mg caffeine
250 mg Cognizin® Citicoline
1,000 mg L-taurine
200 mg L-theanine
159 kcal
The carbohydrates come from maltodextrin and fructose in a ratio of 1:0.8 . SiS has developed the BETA Fuel series for longer activities where the athlete plans a high carbohydrate intake and combines gels, sports drinks and chews.
The high caffeine content makes the Nootropics gel distinctly different from a regular energy gel. SiS recommends using it later in the training or competition, approximately 60 minutes before the desired effect. The manufacturer also states a maximum of one serving per day .
The Lemon & Lime flavor combines fresh lemon and lime with the more pronounced flavor profile that can arise from caffeine and the other active ingredients.

Each gel provides 40 g of carbohydrates, making it a larger carbohydrate portion than, for example, SiS GO Isotonic Energy Gel.
1 gel provides 40 g of carbohydrates
2 regular BETA Fuel products of 40 g each give a total of 80 g
1 Nootropics gel and 1 regular BETA Fuel gel gives a total of 80 g
1 Nootropics gel and a BETA Fuel Chew can be part of a larger energy plan
BETA Fuel is a series for longer and more intense activities, typically around two hours or more. The manufacturer states 80–120 g of carbohydrates per hour as an advanced target for longer endurance activities. Such an intake is high and needs to be trained in gradually.
However, the Nootropics gel should not be taken multiple times during the same day. Remaining carbohydrate needs need to be met with caffeine-free gels, chews, sports drinks or food.
BETA Fuel uses maltodextrin and fructose in a ratio of 1:0.8 .
Maltodextrin is a glucose-based carbohydrate, while fructose is absorbed via a different transport pathway. The combination is used in sports nutrition to enable a higher total carbohydrate intake than when only one carbohydrate source is used.
Individual tolerance varies, so test the product and total carbohydrate intake during regular training sessions before using the same regimen in competition.
Each gel contains 200 mg of caffeine , which is a high amount in a single serving.
Add up the caffeine from all sources during the day, for example:
Coffee
Energy drink
Caffeine gel
PWO
Caffeine tablets
Cola
Tea
Other supplements
Do not take another Nootropics gel on the same day. Also be careful with other caffeine products before and after the gel.
Caffeine can affect people differently and can cause, among other things:
Anxiety or restlessness
Palpitations
Stomach upset
Tremor
Difficulty falling asleep
Increased perceived alertness
Never try such a caffeine-rich gel for the first time during an important race.
Each serving contains 250 mg of Cognizin® Citicoline . Citicoline is a compound that supplies choline and is used in the product as part of the nootropic blend.
SiS has combined citicoline with caffeine, L-theanine and taurine to create a gel intended for the latter part of prolonged activities where concentration and decision-making may be more demanding. This is the manufacturer's intended use.
Each gel contains 1g of L-taurine . Taurine is an amino acid-like compound that occurs naturally in the body and is often used in sports nutrition and energy products.
Taurine is part of SiS' combination of carbohydrates, caffeine, citicoline and L-theanine.
Each gel contains 200mg of L-theanine , the same amount as caffeine. SiS states that the combination has been chosen to support a sense of alertness while the L-theanine can balance some of the restlessness some people experience from caffeine. This is the manufacturer's product description and individual experience may vary.
SiS recommends the following:
Consume the gel directly from the package.
Use it during prolonged endurance activity.
Feel free to take it during a later part of the workout or race.
Use it about 60 minutes before the intended effect is desired.
Take a maximum of one gel per day.
Optionally supplement with caffeine-free BETA Fuel products for the remaining carbohydrates.
1 BETA Fuel + Nootropics Gel: 40g carbohydrates
1 regular BETA Fuel Gel: 40 g carbohydrates
Total: 80 g carbohydrates
Caffeine: 200 mg
1 BETA Fuel + Nootropics Gel: 40 g
BETA Fuel Energy Chews: quantity by current packaging value
Water or electrolyte drink separately
The nootropics gel can be saved for a later part of the race, while earlier energy intake comes from:
Regular BETA Fuel Gels
BETA Fuel Energy Chews
BETA Fuel 80 drink
Caffeine-free gels
Sports drink or other food
SiS specifically recommends that the Nootropics gel be used during the latter part of prolonged activity and that only one serving be taken per day.
The gel can be consumed directly from the package, but it does not contain enough liquid to cover the body's fluid needs.
Therefore, plan water or sports drink separately based on:
Temperature
Humidity
Activity duration
Intensity
Individual sweat loss
Access to hydration stations
SiS uses the Nootropics gel with water in several of its race guides. For example, the half marathon guide shows a gel with about 250 ml of water.
Marathon
Ultramarathon
Trail and mountain running
Long bike races
Gravel and mountain biking
Triathlon
Cross-country skiing
Vasaloppet and other long-distance races
Long workouts
Activities lasting two hours or more
Later part of long races
Athletes who have tested and planned a high caffeine intake
40 g carbohydrates
200 mg caffeine
250 mg Cognizin® Citicoline
1 g L-taurine
200 mg L-theanine
Maximum one gel per day
Mainly for the latter part of long activities
40 g carbohydrates
Same carbohydrate ratio of 1:0.8
No added caffeine
Can be used for other planned gel intakes
Suitable when energy is a priority without nootropic ingredients
The Nootropics version should not replace all energy gels in a long-distance race setup. Use a Nootropics gel and choose caffeine-free products for other intakes.
40 g carbohydrates
200 mg caffeine
Citicoline, taurine and L-theanine
Maximum one serving per day
Developed for longer endurance activities
22 g carbohydrates
Typically 75 mg of caffeine in Cola and Berry
Smaller gel portion
Lower caffeine content
Easier to distribute into smaller energy and caffeine doses
Choose Nootropics when a large carbohydrate and caffeine serving is planned. Choose GO Energy + Caffeine when you prefer smaller doses.
Lemon & Lime has a fresh citrus flavor with:
Sourness from lemon
Fresh lime character
More pronounced bitterness than caffeine-free gels
A relatively large gel portion of 60 ml
The taste experience can be affected by temperature. In cold weather, the gel often becomes firmer, while it can become thinner in warm weather.
Test the flavor at approximately the same intensity and temperature as you expect on race day.
