U Loader contains Palatinose as the only carbohydrate source. Palatinose is the brand name of a starch called Isomaltulose. It is a starch with a low glycemic index (GI), which is not optimal for a sports drink that you want fast energy from, but for a carboloader it is perfect. The uptake is 100% and it provides 4kcal / g, which is equivalent to the carbohydrate sources we have in our sports drinks.

The main reason why we chose Palatinose is that it is the first and so far only starch that has the international stamp "Happy Tooth" that Tooth Friendly International gives to products that do not have a negative impact on our teeth. Palatinose is not an effective carbohydrate source for sports drinks as it is absorbed 4-5 times slower than our carbohydrate sources in sports drinks and gels. The energy is thus delivered slowly to our muscles, something that is not interesting during the time we train and compete.

During a carbohydrate charge that lasts for 2-3 days before competition, the speed of uptake does not matter much (ie if the carbohydrates are stored as glycogen in the muscles in 10 minutes or only after 40-50 minutes) and given that Palatinose is kind to teeth, we have chosen this starch.

Pro tip:

Creatine Monohydrate in conjunction with the carbohydrates in U Loader has been shown to lead to 82% faster glycogen storage compared to just carbohydrates over a 24h period. We therefore recommend buying creatine if you are out at the last second and need to top up the depots. With a normal recharge of 2-3 days, the body has time to store the carbohydrates as glycogen in the muscles and then you do not need to optimize with a contemporary creatine intake. But if you are out at the last second and want to be opti, this is a tip.
